how to keep up with a raptor

If I were to have that goal in mind..(no one I ride with has a raptor).....I wouldnt mess around, I would elect to get a 440 at 13:1 compression, a good high end cam and a complete aftermarket exhaust.

From what Ive read on here, a good, well thought out 416 kit will get the job done.

Im sure someone that has a 416 kit will respond shortly. :D

to tell you the truth, that wont make you go any faster it'll just get you there quicker. do your sprockets for topend. or you could always just get a towstrap. KP

wouldn't gearing the sprockets for bottom-end be better for the dunes. I want to climp sand hills faster. How close will I be with sparks complete exhaust, rev kit, air filter, air box screen, and advance key?

yes you would want to go down a gear in front so you can climb, but then you will have even less top KP

You like that 300EX? I bought one four years ago and it was my first quad. It was a blast the ride! My buddy bought a Warrior at the same time. The two quads were a good match. Even though the Warrior is a nipple hair faster, the mighty Honda was quicker off the line.

One weekend about a year later, he shows up to ride with a pipe on his warrior. I got the last laugh though, two weeks afterwards, I show up with a brand new 400EX.

....and Im still laughin. :D Happy ridin man!

A 440 kit will get you right there with a stock raptor

You dont have to do a 440 kit if u dont want to.

I got a standard bore 11.1 piston a hotcams stage 2 TI valve springs and a powerbomb headpipe with an e series pipe.

That put me faster than a piped and jette craptor!!

Head porting is coming this winter!!

on the trails, you will walk all over a raptor with a 400ex, been there and done that many times. if you are on a straight away, don't waste your time, you will be beat, unless you have the proper mods.

The below mods will put you on par with a piped raptor as far as straight line acceleration. Stock versus stock however, you should have him beat in the twisties.

With the mods I have, I can walk away from a stock Z-400, Ive never run into anyone with a raptor yet. How bad does a Raptor walk away from a Z-400? Anyone know?

they walk away pretty bad.... my mom has a raptor and my cuz just got a Z and my mom beats him by about 5-6 bike lengths in a 300ft drag.

and KP.... i dont mean to start a fight or nothin, but your 300ex would get blown away by a blaster with a pipe and a filter. and my blaster would eat it for breakfast... 300ex's are good quads to start out on like a blaster.... but the blaster has a **** of a lot more potential than a 300

I RIDE MY STOCK MOTORED 400EX WITH A PIPED 01 RAPTOR ALMOST EVERY WEEKEND WITH A RIDER OF ALMOST IDENTICAL SKILL LEVEL. MY 400EX CAN PASS THE RAPTOR IN THE WOODS WITH REGULARITY, BUT GETS PASSED WITH EASE ON OPEN STRAIGHTAWAYS. yamasaki_125 what are you talking about, my buddy has a 99 blaster- with powercore pipe, fatty gold series pipe, re-jetted, maxxis tires, bored out a bit.. ummm k&N Filter, and airbox lid off... and with the mods i have i can smoke his little yammie *****.
He weighs 160 and i weight 150, and we are equal riders when it comes to straight stretches. What gives?

honda300rider -- i dont believe you at all. i know for a fact that a blaster will kill a 300ex, especially with those mods. Try switching riders and see what the result is. im positive that the blaster will beat you with riders of the same skill riding them.

The blaster will smoke a 300ex in stock trim, and it gets worse when you start modding them! If you are outrunning a blaster on your 300 then the blaster rider either does not know how to ride or has problems with his quad.

yamasaki your blaster would kill my 300.
I am just saying my quad beats his.. maybe his is a POS, i dont know.. I will get on his quad like 300exryder said.. I was just saying this from experience. I am not trying to say my 300ex is king of all.. i was simplying saying that my quad would beat a blaster with the same mods. I dont know how it just did? If you dont wanna beleive me than dont.. I dont really care. My 300ex is sold and i am getting a 400ex.. the 300 was just too slow. I didnt feel like getting into any other better mods. I would sooner spend the money in a better bike. I wasnt trying to start and flaming.. But i was just stating what happened. So take it easy !
