Without port and polish, Sparks X4.

With Port and Polish, bigger carb and cam: Sparks X6 standard core

Why would you never buy one?

Ive heard of a few people runing the hmf with a fmf powerbomb header.

ya HMF Powerbomb is a great combo. If I was to race full time then I'd get a SPARKS. But for racing part time and regular riding I'd either take the HMF Powerbomb or Yoshi RS-3 IMO.

i run xc and a long time ago (1999) tom at tc racing told me not to change the stock head pipe. he would build one for the 4oo but he couldnt beat the stock head pipe for xc racing witch sounds like what you want. the 400 hasnt changed very much since 1999
i run the stock head pipe with a yoshi slip on (its no too loud) with a 440 TC woods cam, ported and the carb was flowed to the head. still to this day i can take it out and beat stock 450 for a hole shot. ITS STILL GOT IT.

well there all loud with the ct and tc you can tune the power with the disk that bolt onto the back. the sparks is a open pipe. but save your self the money and get just yhe slip on if your looking for bottom to mid range power. rember you have to hold a certain amount of back presure to get bottom power. thre all go pipes that is your choice. i like my yoshi.

if your looking for one of the best low to mid pipes I would say Yoshi, not a better quality pipe made than that

i used to have a fmf with the closed end and it gave a ton of bottom end, but no top end-i switched to the wb r4 and it gave me alot more top end.

but my favorite overall pipe has to be the sparks 6 it crackes so loud i think it pops my eardrums!

and you like that? anyway, hmf seems to give a ton of bottom end and it really pulls hard into the midrange. its a great quality pipe for 2/3 the price f most slip ons. you really cant go wrong with any of the pipes mentioned here.
