CR500 link question

Does anybody know why the CR500 link shock setup is offset?

If stuff was custom made would it be possible to make it centred? Or does it need to be offset?

Don't quote me, but I think it is made like that because the linkage is off the dirt bike and it is off set to the right so the shock will clear the air boot going to the carb. As far as the custom, I have know idea, I just know that my laeger is offset.
