well i got my parents to break down and make an ebay account. but i have a few questions before i go and bid on things:p

lets say i bid on an item thats currently at 75$, someone has put in their highest bid at 100$ and i find that out buy adding like 10$ each time he outbids me automatically because his reserve is at 100$. and i go to 110$, BUT i didn't want to pay the 110$ for it. am i stuck with buying that item or is there a confirmation that i have to go through before i am absolutely positive i want to purchase it.

im pretty sure it makes sure that you REALLY are going to buy it after you succesfully complete the ebay challenge of getting the highest bid

:D

I really dislike the use of word 'win' on Ebay. You win at games. You buy on ebay.

Don't bid more than you want to spend. If you bid the $110 and you're the highest bidder at closing time you will be expected to pay the $110 + shipping and handling if it's not included.

ok, for some reason what some said in here doesnt seem right to me.

If the other person's top bid is $100 and you bid $110, the bid will go to $100.50 or $101 (cant remember which money increment it uses) then if the auction ends and the highest bid is $101 or whatever it will be, then thats all you pay. You dont have to pay the full $110 that you put in for your maximum bid.

Wasn't meant to be directed to you, more so to the general ebay 'win' thing;)

That may be a bit better explaination but you still shouldn't bid more than you're willing to spend.

if you are the highest bidder at the end of the auction, then yes, you are financially resposnsible for what the highest bid is. it may not be the highest you put in, but you will be responsible for it.

now if you want to bid 30 on an item and accidentally hit 60, then you can retract that bid, but you have to rebid again immediately. i have done this once. i didn't notice i hit the 6 instead of the 3 until after i hit the confirm button. i immediately changed my bid and still "won" the item.

you can fix bidding mistakes up to a certain time period then you can't withdrawal the bid. I once bid 360 bucks on a ratchet, was supposed to be 36, act like I wasn't sweating bullets.

you can contact the seller and talk to him about it. sometimes the sellers are pretty cool and will let off by just paying the relisting fee, but sometimes it wont work and in that case maybe u can take back some bottles and come up with the extra 10 buck and call it a day.....
