Never heard of using WD-40 as foam filter oil.

I'd stick to using oil formulated for foam style filters for now...

Don't use K&N filter oil! Only oil designed for foam filters!

I use K&N filter cleaner in spray with my UNI... It works very fine to clean it up.

I use foam oil thought.

go to ure local hardware store a pick up a some Odorless Mineral Spirits it cuts the oil and removes the dirt then wash it with warm warter check for tears and stuff let air dry then use any type of air filter oil designed for aftermarket foam air filter. the reason i use mineral spirts is cause its a hell of alot cheaper then the cleaner down at my dealer. And the air filter oil i buy from my dealer recomends to use mineral spirts more than it recomends to use cleaners that come from dealers

Stick to a system.
I would use either PJ1's foam filter cleaner and oil, or NOToil's Filter cleaner and oil.

With PJ1 and all other filter oils(except no toils system), when it comes time to clean ,the oil doesn't come off with soap and water. You need to break down the oil using the filter cleaner, gas,Castrol super clean etc. Then wash with hot soapy water and let dry completely. It gets expensive and turns into a nasty job.

With No Toil's product, when your ready to clean, you just take a bucket ,dump a bit of no toils cleaning powder (its actually oxy clean) and your filter will come out looking new without any of those nasty smelling chemicals. Plus you will be saving money as oxy clean is much cheaper then using gas or buying filter cleaner everytime you clean your filters.

I personally would stick to a Spray application filter oil.
PJ1's foam filter oil, Maxima's FAB 1, or No Toil's.
You then will not have a problem over oiling and having a mess. I's stay away from Bel Ray foam filter oil and other like it. I've seen many people mess their bikes up becuase its like molasses, its too thick and is VERy easy to over oil, gets into your carb, fills your air box etc, stains your filters and is a royal pain to clean up.

Hope this helps!!

I use a normal everyday degreasing dish soap like Dawn or Palmolive to clean my UNI filter. It's cheap and easy and best of all it works perfectly. To oil the filter I use nothing but UNI's own filter oil.

To clean my UNI filter, I use a coffee can filled with gas, and dip it in and out for about a minute. I'm sure it will eventually eat up the filter, but it has worked for well over a year now and hasn't showed signs of being broken down yet. Then I oil the filter with a spray on FAB-1 from maxima oils, or if I have time, soak it with FFT also from maxima oils. Both work well, but one thing you should do is wear latex gloves. That stuff doesn't clean off your hands very well.

Anybody heard about uni's coming apart from using no-toil? On a few other sites I've read that the alcohol (i think) in their oil can make the glue break down.... I used to use this combo until i heard this a while back so maybe Uni did something about it.:ermm:
