I currently own a lightly modded 04' 400EX and I am looking to buy the wife another sport atv in the near future. She can ride and handle my 400 with out any problems. My first choice is to finde her a good stock 400EX for her to ride. But I was thinking a 350 Raptor may do her just fine as well since she does not ride my 400 to any where near it's limits.

My question is, I have never ridden a 350 Raptor. I have ridden 300EX before. So I am looking for a how does a 350 Raptor compare to my 400EX and a 300EX. Between a 300ex and a 400ex, I would get her the 400 with out a dought because I know she would be happier with it.

Looking for comparison opinions on the Raptor so I know if I should even consider that for her as a good ride.

Thanks for the info.

400ex is so much better of a quad, i'm not just saying that because i own 1 its because i have ridden and ridden with raptor 350's, they arent all that. better than a 300ex but not better than a 400ex.

The 400ex is a much better quad. I ride my friends 350 raptor all the time and I know he has problems a good bit. The 400ex is faster and bulletproof. The other day he popped a wheelie and cracked the casing on the transmission. His clutch is releasing on the last 1/2 inch of it's lever and he just had it replaced not too long ago. Also the 400ex is much faster if your wife likes to run it once in a while haha.

350 raptor = 17-19 HP
400ex = 29-30 HP

Those are the numbers I have seen.

My friend i ride with has a raptor 350, its ok but i would rather get my girl a 300ex or a 400ex. I have rode all three bikes, of coarse i prefer my 400ex. I just dont like the power delivery of the raptor, you have to have it up in the rpms, no low end torque.

I forgot to say its very tippy, VERY tippy. The stock rear tires are horrible you cant slide it out at all.

I owned both... started out with a 350... they have good low gear tork... still... 400 with a little modification (even stock) is a way better machine, faster, confy, ... overall a better quad... I put a +2.5 swingarm to my 400 and made a difference from night to day...

rigger- i went though this same thing, and i was thinking about a 300ex, 250ex, 250x, warrior/raptor or the 400ex if you do some searches on this you will find a ton a ton of posts..

well i ended up buying a 250r for me to ride and leting my girl ride the 400ex, i did this for resale values... a 250r holds its values well and most like always be able to sell it for what i got in it. (got it for a decent price)

1.anyway i looked at it like this, a decent warrior/raptor was around 1200-1400 around here where a 400ex is around 2.

now give or take the the person selling, the area and the buyers in said area. the warrior/raptor goes for say 1200-1400 and seams to go down stightly with age as the 400ex seam to hold steady around the 2 mark, so why not spend the 600 bucks for the 400ex and have a better quad that will more or less keep a better resale value.

2. if you buy the raptor/warrior say for 600 less then the 400 you would have to spend that back in the quad to reach the same performance... if you can even reach the same level. might as well spend the money and have a better quad to begin with.

3. if your lady likes the 400 you have now then why not just buy her one as she already know the machine and will be comforable riding it right off the bat. instead of haveing to "learn that machine"

anyway this is my opinion

There are plenty of 400exs or better than that Z400s for sale at cheap prices now dont waste money on warrior/raptor 350 !

i used to ride a warrior and ya its a good bike to learn on but i just grew bored with it and im sure your wife will too, and my friend just recently sold a 2007 raptor 350 too, their too tipsy and their power becomes very boring after a while so i would say just get her a 400ex, and u said she doesnt ride yours to its potential so that means she wouldnt get bored with her own 400 cuz when she becomes a very good rider there will still be more power to be had. All in all just get her a 400 ex for all the reasons already listed, like beags said dont waste your money. But i think you should give her your 400 and go and get a yfz, just throwin that in there cuz im a yamaha guy:D
