header and airbox lid

how do i grind the welds on the inside of the header???? and also,if i drill holes in the airbox lid, how big should they be and do i cover them with anything or just leave them as open holes??? Thanks

I personally think, Just remove the lid when you ride. Then if its wet out you can just put it back on.

Like me I got mine jetted for summertime with the lid off. Then when winter comes the cold air makes the bike run leaner, so I just put the lid back on to richen it up.:blah

You will notice a difference.

and, I don't know nuttin about grindin welds:confused:

grinding the welds use a dremel tool. Take off your header and there is big glob of weld right there. or at least there is on a 400ex. i would say if you drill holes in you air box drill them quater inch but JMO

Everyone I talk to says to drill 6- 1" holes in the lid, but I just raise the lid in the back and put the snaps under it and leave the front clamped down, worked good for the 1 time I done it. Plus you can just close it back if you ride on muddy trails and etc.. Just my $.02! :devil

Oh yeah, I've never heard anything about the welds on a 300 just the 400. :D

Uni Filter makes 1" plugs for your airbox lid Its basically a .......oh heck, see for yourself.

As for welds on a 300 i dont know but on a 400 use a dremel and grind them suckers down.

and for the airbox lid. make it look like swiss cheese!!!!!

maybe 15 1" holes make a 1" hole everywhere u possible can!!

eventhought its prolly just as well to ride with the lid off it does keep a little extra mud out!

Depends on your riding conditions. I cut a square hole about 2" x 5" in the back of my lid, and I also put an Outerwears cover on the top of the box under the stock lid.
