Yep, I have started to get the winter project underway....:D You can't really see in the pic that good, but the main top rail is shining up after the first two sandpaper passes. That part doesn't show, so it was my test area..........JIM

Yeah, I am undertaking the impossible task of polishing the frame and then I may do a clear powdercoat over it.....maintenance will be a pain otherwise..........JIM

I assumed you were gonna clear coat it any how.

You definately should...

It would be trick to have it anodized instead of polishing.

What have you been using for te polishing? In the pic have you just been using sandpaper? What grits? Any other advice? I am going to polish just the part of the frame that goes by your legs.

Nice paint job!! That must have cost them a arm and a leg (LOL). Though that would look really neat on a Hot Rod (street rod).

I really like the polished aluminum frame! A dale would look sweet with a frame like that.

Mines all polished like that as well. It isn't that hard to keep it up. just wash and dry so you don't get water spots.

Do not anodize, when you do that you will LOSE the polish. The bike is chromed. You could do that but if your frame flexes it may crack and start to peal.

polish her up then put a clear coat over it and she should look sweet!

I don't think anodizing loses it shine. I have stock R wheels that are anodized gold and they still look great.

Airheaddunner,

If you have a highly polished surface like the parts I make or my quad frame and you anodize it the process WILL not have the shine. Anodizing is a surface treatment that will reduce the oxidation of the aluminum. You will get a flat appearance. Even if you do what's called a "Bright Dip" first you WILL LOSE some of the finish.

I worked at a company the anaodized aircraft parts.

I believe that Cannondale was rebuilt by R.I.S Designs. I met him when I was in Glamis over Easter and he leaves no detail untouched. I remember seeing that Moto on Ebay and he was the seller.......JIM

I didn't know that. All the stuff that I have seen adnodized looks shiney, and stayed that way. But I guess you would know.
