are you serious?

while riding you don't need antifreeze. once it cools off and that water freezes and ruins your rad and motor you'll realize that following the manufacturers recommendation of a 50:50 mix is a good idea.

Your probably a new to quads wich is fine....The thing i use in winter is "ENGINE ICE" wich is a brand of coolant...you dont want to use car/truck antifreeze or anyting like that....got to rockymountainatv.com and search fluids and you'll find "ENGINE ICE" its already a 50:50 mix so it'll be easier for you, its the purple one...in the summer i use a hi-flo imeller, and i still use the engine ice, but i have straight up coolant that needs to be mixed 50:50, and i poor a couple drops...lemme know if you need to know anyting else......i'll help ya out!!!

Not totally new to quads, just my first 1 that has a radiator. I thought that their was specific antifreeze for quads but was not sure due to no owner manual when I bought the quad. Thanks for your help.

Actually the PLIQUID racing coolant seems a little better than the Engine Ice.. It's orange in color.

Nothings better than engine ice in my opinoin...i have a couple of dogs and if they lick it off the ground it wont matter because its no-toxic and biodegredable....

Regular automotive antifreeze will work, you just have to make sure it's not the cheap stuff and that it's compatible with aluminum.

I've always ran 50/50 automotive antifreeze in my Banshee and never had a problem in cold or hot weather. I probably will need to flush the system on my YFZ soon so I'll once again put in 50/50 automotive antifreeze. I also have not had problems with overheating so I have no reason to switch to Engine Ice or any other additive like that.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with running auto anti-freeze in your quad. I've done it for over 15yrs. Make sure its safe for aluminum radiators and your good to go. You can even get it pre-diluted in the bottle so you don't have to add water.

What exactly do you feel is different about "quad specific" coolant as compared to auto coolant yfzrider45? Someone has been feeding you bs and you bought it hook, line, and sinker.

I'm not sure how fast you plan on going guys, but i'm just saying...my bike gets really hot so i give it the best i think is out there and its safe for my dogs in the garage...It's all about opinion i guess, when i used antifreeze i had to change my seals like a month after, It could of been just timing or idk, but i belive the car antifreeze killed my seals, so i'm just sayin what i know...oh ya and flynbryan19, nobodys on here to put other people down....

I don't see Flynbryan putting anyone down. You stated your opinion and we stated a fact. Automotive antifreeze is okay to run in quads as long as it's compatible with aluminum. I've been running it in my sled, my Banshee, and when I change it in my YFZ that's what I'll be using.

Why pay more for something when something cheaper works just fine?
