This is the start of the rebuild and pretty much what I have to work with. Hoping it comes out nice. There are a few not pictured such as my fr. and rr wheel hubs and the fr shocks in the picture are in the process of being replaced because LSR decided the wanted to send the wrong ones. Hopefully everything is done by Jan 5th......I have a local holiday race for charity on that day.

bloodmoney23
11-17-2007, 03:35 PM
thanks, got them pretty cheap from ebay. I am gonna take the pro armor shield off and have those powdercoated the same color as swingarm and a arms. then pop rivot shield back on. I am also going to PC my new handlebars (not pictured) red as well. I think it will look nice when its done. but these frame pics are the proof of the whole ocean incident if anyone didnt beleive me. I need to blast and PC the frame b4 it does go bad.

bloodmoney23
12-12-2007, 03:56 PM
well the bike is in for powder coat finally. It will be a all gloss black frame, sub frame, front bumper, grab bar and steering stem. These will be candy red: a-arms, swingarm, nerfs and motor mounts. He said it should be done by the 21st (next friday) cause hes pretty swamped. I will post pics of frame and all when it gets back. It's about time im gettin it together and finishing this bike.

Well, as of the day after X-mas the bike is going back together. I will post a few pics of that when we start. And then a pic of finished rebuild.

Well for those that read a previous post on it. I was riding Mokulea Beach on North Shore in Hawaii during wintertime (big waves) and I wasnt paying attention and I was riding down the shoreline and got smaked by a wave and knocked me off bike and sucked bike in. Took us about 15 minutes to find bike and another 15-20 to pull it in. Im lucky i evern still hae the bike.

Well this is only about 2 and half hours of work cause i didnt start until 9 p.m. and called it quits at 11:30. But this is what I got so far. Big huge difference from the pics at the top huh? Should be almost complete tomorrow.....My goal is to have some seat time on Sunday.......now lets just hope it happens.....but I know something will go wrong.

Looking good, I like that red.

Try some maguires alum wheel cleaner to get that engine clean.
Will make that engine look like new.

haha, i was just going to say that, but then i read the next post... you guys should check out the how to section and see the polishing thread, a good bit of very useful info. i am in the process of polishing my entire engine, im about 3/4 of the way done, and it looks pretty sick, cant wait until i get her peiced together...

The red is Candy Red w/ a Chrome base powder. I already tried everything on the engine man, from mothers to wheel cleaner to brake cleaner to carb cleaner.......the only thing that will work is a polishing compound and sitting there for hours with a dremel and a mini buffer wheel on it. It is stained with Hawaii red dirt and it does not want to come off.

That sucks,, If cleaners won't help, then the wet sanding is prolly your best bet, then of course polishing.

bloodmoney23
12-27-2007, 08:46 PM
well i figure that when i pull the motor next winter to have chad do a full rebuild I will already have a brand new head, and a new cylinder so that will get rid of 90% of the ugliness.....anyway, heres my progress for today, dont worry those rims and tires are getting cleaned they are just on so we can adjust the camber and tierod ends tomorrow.

So did you ever figure out why there was play in your DC-6 linkage? Just wondering if i'm going to have to order some special bushing from lonestar, or can I use my stock ones? When you got your linkage did you have to put in all bushings and seals or just the metal sleeve? Looks great BTW!

bloodmoney23
12-29-2007, 03:25 PM
all u have to put in is the metal sleeve. It's still got alot of play and LSR doesnt sell the metal sleeve. So use stock and it doesnt matter what year they are all the same up to 07 i believe. Maybe my bad luck is the reason for play because I have no clue but oh well I really dont care no more. You are still waiting on that thing......what like over a month now. Anyway, your bike is looking really nice. keep up the good work.

Well if you are using "Thats sick" in a good way then thank you very much. Eagle One "Etching" Mag Cleaner.....I will def give that a try. I cant stand the way the engine looks and ive been as far as to put a wire wheel on a grinder and after 20 min it cleaned one spot on the back of motor about 2 square inches (b4 i put it on) thats when i gave up. But i will def try.

12-30-2007, 06:05 AM
LOL yes in a good way...
Just keep the stuff away from paint, electrical etc.
I spray it on and work it in with a scotch brite pad and rinse off quickly. You will be suprised

haha need some rubber gloves when u work with stuff like that, don't want cancer :P

And don't use that stuff too much, will start to pit and discolor the alum with extended use.

Still not done and taking my time to get everything exactly how I like it. And I would def like to thank 440challenger for the advice on the eagle one product. Worked great! Heres the pics with clean stuff. All I have left is small things. Airbox, chain, wheel hub seals (since a certain company cant put seals in) plastics and I had to order a new kickstart, e brake block off plate, and some other small things then its done.

Any idea how much the PA frame skid weighs?

My RPM frame skid is like freaking 7lb lol.
Wondering if I should ditch it for something lighter.

Is that a hood or one piece plastic?

bloodmoney23
01-02-2008, 10:12 AM
No im not sure on the weight of the skid d3ktrix but i'll find out and let you know. It is pretty light to pick up IMO but may weigh more than 7lbs. If you want to go really light, take some plexy glass and trace your current plate and mount that up. Not only does it look alright cause you can see through it but its pretty dang light and works decent. My buddy did it once. Anyway, thanks for the compliments Klutch and Twisted. Hey 440 once again it wouldnt look this nice w/o throwing me a bone and letting me know what the hell would finally clean my engine. The front end is the Maier one piece MX style. I am going to be selling them next winter, if i dont tear them up that much would you want to buy them?

Looks awesome. I can't believe the difference in the motor. Whole thing turned out great!

bloodmoney23
01-03-2008, 08:55 AM
ok im confused, because b4 i took the motor out the jettign was great and now i have the popping on decel again. that is the slow jets right?!?

yfzrider45
01-03-2008, 03:02 PM
Poppin on the decel for me on my yfz is just a diry filter....When i put a new one or clean my k&n the poppin goes away imediately!!...........but i just wanted to say EXTREMELY nice build!!!! :eek2:

brand new filter so i doubt its that but thanks, im pretty sure i just have to up my slow jet one more size and turn out screw 2.5

440challenger
01-03-2008, 05:48 PM
Pop on decel is a lean mixture. I bet its becuase its winter now . I'd fatten it up a bit

d3ktrix
01-03-2008, 06:00 PM
Prolly from the colder temps of winter.
Also check for air leaks where the header meets the head since u just had all that apart.

eastside 400
01-03-2008, 07:12 PM
try messing with the air/fuel screw. thats usually what the decel popping is

bloodmoney23
01-03-2008, 07:36 PM
you know what. I put a DynoJet Jet kit on it. Im gonng say screw that and go back to Keihin jets. Its an 05 so im gonna go with a 190 main (it popped on decel w/ the 185 HRC main and pipe was glowing within 2 min of startup) So like i was saying a 190 main and up the slow to maybe a 48. Timing and Clearances are both perfect on the dot. The header is mounted up fine. Nice and snug w/ no water bubbles on a cold kick. So i know it has to be jetting i just dont understand how it gets thrown off that much from 10ยบ.

d3ktrix
01-03-2008, 09:21 PM

Bump up the pilot one size. The main jet size has nothing to do with the hot header at idle.

What classes are you running in the CRA. I run one of the tracks, Meadowlarks. Maybe I'll see you out there this summer.

bloodmoney23
01-04-2008, 02:53 PM
I am going to be in the 4 stroke class only. And i am pretty pissed cause since everything is taking so long to get here I am going to miss the 1st series down at Summit which is a 6 race series and to be eligible to win or anything you have to make at least 5 of the 6 races. It starts on the 11th and I have a bunch of little stupid things that NEED to be done. Oh well. I am going to try to make every single race this year to try to build a name so i can start sending out resumes for sponsors. Anyway, im sure ill see ya this year....whats your number and what you ride?

rt20ps
01-04-2008, 04:30 PM
I usually run senior and money if the track offers it. I also ride a 450R #66. What kinda things do you need (to finish your build) to make Summit. I just started to part mine out to build a KTM. I may be able to help.

bloodmoney23
01-04-2008, 07:04 PM
well i need keihin jets 190-200 main and up to 50 on slows. im guessin im going to need new rims on the rear. 4 rides on them and my back right is already bent snd i dont feel like eating my axle bearings.....ITP sucks. I already have my front wheel hub seals ordered and should be in on Monday. My case save should be here monday or tuesday as well. My main issue is going to be the jetting though. cause the HRC 185 main wasnt enough and I dont even wanna mess with the DynoJet kit no more. My rear brakes are acting up too so i gotta bleed those again. its pretty much the small tedious crap now. The jetting was fine in November though. And to top it off my throttle is acting up too. If i turn my wheel right or left it acts as a throttle and puts it to full RPM. What the hell would cause that. If i even touch the throttle cable it opens the carb. Should I replace the cable or would it be something else?

440challenger
01-05-2008, 05:53 AM
Im guessing you routed the cable wrong. Or you didnt put it on the slide correctly.

yfzrider45
01-05-2008, 09:54 AM
ITP wheels do suck!!! i had them on my yfz for the first month (NEW) n i bent the rear right......there tires on the other hand are the best i think!!! Try hiper's.....i run all four of them and havent bent one and they look nice n there light!!

Awesome bike man. Go get some pics rippin it up now!

bloodmoney23
01-05-2008, 05:13 PM
I will as soon as I get it running perfect. Need new rear rims and jetted properly and fix the issue with throttle cable and its good. I took care of everything else i.e. kickstart, seals, casesaver, camber and everything today. I need a new seat too but i need to save up about $1,000.00 for seat and rims.....unless ITP will replace the rim thats already bent.

bloodmoney23
01-06-2008, 05:13 PM
As an update, once my main jets come in i will be good on jetting. my throttle cable is good (i forgot to readjust cable) waiting another week or 2 for new rims and seat cover. The wife wont let me use any of the savings. And quick question with the jetting. Its normal for the first couple inches of pipe to glow pretty good right? im used to my stock one that never glowed and none of my 2 strokes ever glowed. This is like a BRIGHT orange glow. Still to lean on the slow? I jumped it to a 50 and 2.5 turns out on screw. Should I maybe do the 52 and only 2 turns out?

quadgod440ex
01-08-2008, 10:34 PM
i got a set of rear douglas beadlocks im tryin to sell , there 8x8 with inner ring also. Got 18 inch mxr6's with about 75 percent left on them. Ill do 350 shipped to you if your interested. they should last you quite a few races till you get some money saved up for more important things. Let me know.

bloodmoney23
01-09-2008, 08:08 AM
are they ovaled out or anything. I dont care if it has a ding or so here and there but I need to make sure that I aint going to have the same problem. Just so you know I am borderline freestyle riding as well which is why my stocks look like eggs. I will def get back with you about the rims though. You got any pics of them?
