Here's a few pics of my project. It's a '92 250x that I've worked on a little at a time for a few years now. So many projects, and so little time. I fully stripped this thing and started from scratch. The frame is painted with Rustoleum hammered siver, and black. With some blue and red accents. I extended the swingarm 3" and mounted a re-valved XR500 shock. It has DG steel nerfs and an aluminum front bumper(brand unknown). The rear grab bar, and sprocket guard/case saver, was fabbed up by a buddy of mine. I replaced the rear brake cylinder with one from a dirtbike that has a screw on lid. I put on Moose bars, and fitted the reverse cable to a small compression release lever. I fabbed up the new headlight mount and the guard for it, and the light itself is a projector driving light. The motor is bored 2mm and stroked 3mm. Ported and polished head with big valves. Wiseco 12.5:1 piston. Timing advanced 3 degrees at the crank. All done by me. Both side covers are mostly polished out with painted accents. The dual exhaust took me a whole weekend of fab time and started out life as a Katana 4 into 2 system. It seems to flow great with a nice sound and low noise. I prepped the stock plastic and painted it with bright silver metallic PPG base/clear. Then recovered the seat with silver marine grade vinyl. Some black custom graphics will be next on the list along with some more carb tuning, and an oil cooler, but at least I'm finally back riding it. Let me know what you think!

Dual exhausts are awesome. But i think a red or black seat cover would look better. Too much silver...lol

Exactly my point. I love my 250x and don't ever plan on selling it so I am gonna rebuild it one step at a time LOL.

Kind of, most of the motor stuff is the same. Pretty much all of the chassis stuff is the same except the 87-88 front hubs are smaller:(

Thanks guys. I've put a lot of labor into this project. Here's another pic. I should be getting my black graphics for it soon.

Sweet ride!!!!!!!!! Your bike gives alot of inspiration to me to focus on my rebuild. Is your front suspension stock 250x, or other? I need to extend my swing arm. Are there any threads you know of to do this?

Yes, front suspension is stock 250x. I just cut my swingarm up towards the pivot. Then put some rectangular tubing inside the swingarm. I don't remember what size it was but the welding shop had it in stock. It fits just perfect inside. There is an extra 1 inch of tubing inside on both sides of the extension. To add 3 inches it took 2 pieces of tubing 5 inches long. Then it was all fully welded up with a MIG welder. I believe a stock rear shock will still work with up to 2 inches added.
