Nope. A 440 big bore is just a 89mm piston. a 440 stroker is a 87mm piston and a 4mm stroker crank. If you had a 89mm bore and a 4mm stroker crank, then it would be a 465.

Sorta....

You can stroke a 440 bore but it will be more than 440cc's

I'm sure some one can provide the various bore and stroke combinations....

Edit... I belive you can take a 416 bore cylinder and stroke it to achieve 440 cc's so i'd suppose it would be a stroked & bored 440.

well some people call a 416 a big bore and thats an 87mm piston, so i guess if you looked at it that way it would be a big bore stroker 440. :huh

Depends on the combo. Like i said, 89mm piston + 4mm stroke is a 465. 87mm piston + 4mm stroke is a 440. And GT Thunder makes a kit with a 87mm piston and a 7mm stroke thats a 452.

I think you can get a 465 kit for around $600 without a cam and all that stuff. Mainly comes with crank and piston. Or its about $300 for a crank and 275 for a 87mm piston from powerroll.com. Or if you go with the 452 from GT Thunder, you have to buy the whole kit and send it to them for $1500. But that includes labor too so the price isnt too bad.

Im in the process of building a 440 stroker. It is supposed to be faster that a bored 440 and ligtly moded 450 and a little more reliable than the 465. I also forgot that power roll makes a short rod so you can use any piston made for a 400ex.

If you have Powroll do the stroker kit, they actually take your stock connecting rod and compress it to shorten it. It makes the metal extremely dense so it's much stronger, and it also saves you some expense for a custom rod. They installed a Carillo rod and trued and welded the crank for my engine. They do some top-notch work; my engine runs extremely smooth and has been dead reliable for many years now.

so i have a big bore kit 440 right and if i get a strokers thingy and boost it up to a 465.. how reliable will my engine be???

I'm not trying to steal the thread, just have a question.
a stroker just moves the connecting rod further on the outside of the crank making the piston move further up and down. So would a stroker motor rev slower since it would be a farther stroke?

Not always. It depends on cam, head work, piston weight, etc. If done correctly, a stroker will rev just as fast as a bored engine.

Im not sure. Start another thread on the 465 stroker and see what other riders on here have to say about theirs.
