98 grizzly starter

inherited the bike. starter sounded bad so replaced it with a new one. ???still sounds the same,, like something loose.. any ideas

Is it makeing the noise while running or just while starting?

has a sound like a loose ring gear only when I hit the starter. have not checked yet,,, but seems the starter has no bendex so it would go into a chain type crank ??? once the bike starts its fine.
