ok so i have a 2006 suzuki drz400s dual sport that im going to be trading off for something else for the winter. i got a million offers but 3 are the only ones that really stand out and i am having such a hard time deciding which one i should go for. i want something to ride in the snow this winter and with my friends who all recently got quads.

my riding consists of mostly sandpits with big, steep hills, jumps, and wide open feilds where i like to fly.

trade #1. 02 rm 125 bike-full pro circuit exhaust, triple clamps, graphics, full top end/clutch/suspension rebuilt AND $2200 which is enough cash to get a local 1999 ski doo mxz600 snowmobile(good friend's brother has a cabin in old forge, could probably go up with them) kid with bike offered to come to MY house to do the trade...very convienant

trade#2. 06 honda 450er-stem,bars,hrc kit, nerfs, bumper, grab bar,07 fenders,etc...owner lives 4-5 hours away and i would have to meet half way....inconveinant for me, would need dad to drive b/c i've never been through nyc yet, but a very clean and well kept quad.
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/262/rmnd8.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a>

trade#3. 03 raptor limited edition-very low hours and well kept. SET UP. works full shocks, lonestar a-arms and axle, stabilizer, razr 2's, gytr full carbon fiber pipe, etc...owner said he could even possibly throw in a few extra bucks to even it up. local on long island so i wouldnt have to travel far. said he never had time to ride it, just sits in garage.

[he's working on pics, will update when sent]

what do you guys think?

#1 is awsome because i could have both worlds, a bike for the pits and a sled for the snow.

#2 is a reallly nice quad but the whole traveling out of state thing sucks..i had an 05 450r before the drz and liked it alot

#3 really suprised me....never thought id be thinking about a raptor but now as i think, it sounds like an awsome quad...always thought the 660's were badazz and this one is set up with some real nice mods. the all black l.e. is sexy too

I like trade #1 all the way. The bike is pretty cool. And winter is coming so you will have a sled to ride too. Trade #1 is the best.

personally i would go with the 1st deal becuz like u said it is the best of both worlds u would have sumthing for the snow and something for the dirt.

the other deals sound good to but i would feel pretty good if i traded one machine and got two back.

sell the bike for $4000, find a decent 125 (ive seen rm125's 2005 models) around here go for $1500 then take the other 2500 and do what you want.

#1 is definitly tempting...a 125 would probably be pretty fun on the big hills in the pits...no rolling down a 150ft hill if you dont make it

AND

the sled is a town away from me...thing is clean as hell and would easily do 100mph

still dont know its so hard...i love quads :(

my ULTIMATE trade would be someone with a stock 400 quad and enough to get a sled but i cant find anyone

It'll hit 100. My friends dad has a rev 600 that he did 110 on no problem. His MXZ 800 he was doing a lil over 120 on a small pond. :eek2:

I didn't really enjoy my raptor, 02 LE. It seemed to break a lot, irregardless of my maintenance. I personally think a quad is the best of both worlds, you can ride everything, including snow. But a sled does work wayyy better in deep snow.

the thing with the sled is...i live on long island and we only get a few storms a year that last 2-3 days....i dont know how many times id be able to get upstate....i doubt more than once or twice.

the raptor is tempting me since its not a far drive and it would tear the sandpits and snowy streets to shreds...ive been snow riding with quads for 5 winters straight....nothing like ripping down the main roads at 2am and the only other headlights you see are sleds and quads.

another thing making me think raptor is i would have a crew of like 4-5 quads to ride with opposed to 1 kid on a sled

hands down the 450r, the value of the bike and sled is 3000 tops.... here u could pickt hem up for 1500 a piece all day

the 450r is the way to go

raptor is worth 2800

I'd go with the 450R, that thing looks amazingly clean.

i cant make my decision till i see the raptor.
but id say this...
the bike and sled is good because it is both worlds, however, the bike looks A LITLE beat...its not going to have much resale value at all once you get bored of it...and as youve said, the sled might only be used one or two times the whole year. why risk it?

the 450r. probably your best option, however, it is far away...not sure you want to waste your time, possibly making a bad trade after going all that distance.

the raptor i would have to see. but i do love the LE raptor. with the mods it has it sounds like its pretty badass.

usually i dont write in these types of threads i just let the person get what they want. I know whatever you get you'll end up selling soon to buy another dual sport so, the choice is yours :D

I have a fully modded '03 Raptor (Elkas, Hipers, Houser long-travel a-arms, ITP Holeshot HDs) and really like it. And the one you are looking at sounds like it may have similar mods. Once Raptors are modded, they have a lot of potential. However, I think the 450R is probably the better trade. It's newer, worth more, and has a lot more potential in the long run. I bought my Raptor new in '02 and at the time, I felt it was one of the best machines out there. If I was going to buy a quad today though, I would look at the 450s and the Raptor 700...not another 660.

I would definatly go with choice #2 the 450r. The thing looks super clean and you can ride a quad when ever you want, snow, rain, mud, pits, summer days. Really you can ride it whenever and its such a better value.

yeah i keep going back and forth between the 450 and the 660....

the 450 is obviously newer and worth more but.the drive is a pain and i wouldnt be able to see it in person beforehand. already owned a 450r before so i know what its like..the white looks so hot and its got some nice mods.

the raptor is already all set up w/ suspension, wouldnt need anything, might get some extra cash(maybe a nice matching yamaha snowmobile suit for the snow riding;) ....cant get a honda suit:o ) but like some said...is outdated compared to the 450. i really need to see some pics of it before i make any decisions though.. the guy swears its barely ridden but the pics may show its a p.o.s.

i dont plan on riding any mx or racing. all trails, sandpits, feilds, and roads.

I would either trade for the raptor or the 450R. The snowmobile is cool idk about down there but up here we hardley got any snow last year. ID say get some pics of the Raptor and decide which quad you like better. and trade!

welp, looks like i aint trading for chit for another 4-6 weeks....previous owner/bank screwed me bad with the paperwork and now i have to wait all of that time to get the title cleared/registered.

i emailed my 2 quads saying i could do the deal and just send them the title when it comes(they can keep their paperwork until i send mine, notorized bill of sale, give them my address, and all numbers so they can reach me at any time) but im sure both will turn it down.

im pissssssssssssssssssssssssssed man,,,,,i really got the shaft when i bought this bike. almost 2 months now and i havnt even been able to get it on the road due to waiting on this guy and his bank. now when i find an awsome quad to trade, i realize i cant even sell the thing because the guy wrote my name on the back of the title.
