I had a stage 1 in my 660, it really woke it up. My buddy had a stage 2 in his and the stage 1 had a better power curve overall. Highly recommend the stage 1 hot cam..

The stage 1 is a low and midrange cam and sold as a cheap upgrade. It's a drop in and requires no additional modifications.

The stage 2 is more aggressive in the midrange and much more on top end. These require stronger valve springs. It's also highly recommended that you install a higher compression piston to boost low end power and increase power throughout the rev range.

If you can afford to go with the stage 2 and a piston it's a better setup. If your budget only allows for the stage 1 cam then it's a worthwhile upgrade for a bolt on 660.

ok as far as the piston goes will i need to boar the cylender or do the make a high compression piston the same as the stock piston? thanks for the comments.....

They make stock bore (100mm) pistons with higher compressions. If your cylinder is relatively new or just in good shape you can use a 100mm piston and just hone the cylinder walls. If the cylinder is worn or out of round you'll need to bore it to clean it up and at that point you'll need a larger piston. How big depends on how much you need to bore to get the cylinder back within spec, pistons are available in 100, 100.5, 101, and 102mm diameters.

An 11:1 compression piston can be run on premium pump gas without any pre-detonation/pinging problems. This fuel is 91-94 R+M/2 octane.

I've seen a few people run the stage 2 hotcams without the pistons and they've been happy with the results. The low end power will be comparable or better than stock but will not be as strong as a stage 1 without the piston or a stage 2 with the piston.

I went with the stage 1 Hotcam and the high compression piston. My quad rips with tractor-like torque. But at times I wish I had more top end. Yet this can also be adjusted for somewhat with simple sprocket changes.
