i grabbed the wrong gas can when putting gas in my quad. i dumped in like 75% of a 2gallon gas can with 50/50 mix of cam2 race fuel and 93 octane. however i had a little bit of gas left in my quad when i added it. what was in there was cam2 and 93 but i mixed 2 gallons of cam2 and 3 of 93 in a 5gallon can. and there was still a little bit of that in my quad when i added like 75% of 50/50 mix cam 2 and 93. ( 1 gallon of each). my question is, is this ok for my quad or is it to much and going to cause problems motor damage etc? thanxs hope that makes sense i have the following mods listed in my sig

You should be fine.

Higher octane will not hurt your ATV.

Contrary to popular beleif, octane is a detonation/knock/ping resistance rating, not a power rating.

Just out of curiosity, why are you running a race fuel mix in a quad that appears to have a stock compression piston?

at least i'm assuming its stock because i didn't see any piston mods in your sig.

your fine you can run straight VP C-12 fuel if you wanted too. It won't really benefit you too much other than adding some cooling properties becuase of the lead in it. Defnitely won't hurt you though.

Aye, generaly speaking you do not need higher octane until you get above 11:1 compression on a 300ex.

The 11:1 compression guideline applies to the 400 ex too. you can run 93 octane just fine in your quad, it would probably be a lot cheaper, it just may not smell as good :D

The higher octane will make your quad harder to start with a higher flash point, probably not enough to notice though.

LOL.. oops. The general rule is 11:1 air cooled, 12:1 water cooled fo the switch over.

11:1 can be borderline for 91 octane (midwest) premium pump on the 400ex. I think that's why most pistons are 10.8:1 static. Dynamic is what really matters though.

w/ 93 at 11:1 you should be fine.

Elevation and your jetting will play a role too, but these are good rule of thumb to follow. I often ran 87 octane on my 400ex with 11:1 wiseco and stage 1 cam.
