I ride some pretty rough and beat up trails. I really do not have any complaints out of my 400ex for suspension. I could see maybe doing a little something to the rear.

I am wondering if you guys think they are a worth wile investment for an agressive trail rider?

And, if I do find a pair for my 400ex, will I really need to send off the rear shock to get worked over or can I let it ride as it is?

Or..... Should I also look for a rear 450r shock to match the front. I am assuming the a 450r will bolt on the 400ex.

Thanks for the opinions.

I have a 450r rear shock you could buy from me. I also have a stock 400ex rear shock that has been revalved by Derisi. The revalved 400ex rear would be a better ride for you. Send me a message if you would be interested in buying either one from me.

I wouldn't mind getting the 450-r rear shock from u, if the other guy doesn't want it.

One last question.

Is it necessary to revalve and respring the 450r front shocks for the ex or can I get away with just bolting them on?

the front 450 shocks don't have to be re-valved but will only help the ride. The 450 rear will not work without major $modifications, you should revalve the 400 rear or go aftermarket.

The 450r rear shock does not need major modifications to work on the 400ex. You just have to use the stock 400ex linkage with the 450r rear shock. I had one on my 400ex. No modifications at all

i run a 450r rear shock with stock 400 linkage. it lowered the quad quite a bit and helped tremoundously. i run + 2 burgards in the front with 06 450 shocks with 0 pre load. works much better then stock but no where near an aftermarket setup. I must say the quad sits excellent though.

do you have any pictures of this? i have the exact same setup minus the 450 rear shock.. also, my front shocks are 05 450r shocks so they will probably be quite a bit softer than what you're running.

All you have to do is grind the top eyes a little bit.
