I just purchased this item off ebay, but I cant find any info on it online or even a website for the manufacture. Can any one here verify the authenticity of this silencer and if it was a good buy or not? Please help soon before I pay....

Google search for CHM Exhaust gives you this:

http://www.chmexhaust.com/

Looks like an okay company, I'd like to know more about them. I sent them an email for more information on their 400EX pipes, asking for Dyno charts and Db's. I'll keep you all posted with what they say. Bigdaddy52302, might as well pay for your pipe and try it out... let us know!

Here was a quick email I got from a sales guy. They seem to be nice people and his response was VERY quick!

Do you guys have any Dyno runs with your pipe on a stock 400EX? Also, what Db are your pipes, I’m looking for something with good performance but not too loud on the trials! Thank you very much for your time!

Reply:

We did no dyno runs on the 400 EX but have some local guys running the pipe. They report significant gains in all RPM ranges. The CHM system is a bit louder than the stock system but no actual DB tests. We also carry a device to reduce noise

Yes I will make a sound clip when I receive the pipe.
Just so you guys know CHM has the best customer service I have ever encounterd. Since I was haveing a hard time decieding if this was the right pipe and not a fake, I contacted CHM and sent them a link to my win on ebay, they reserched the model # looked at the picture in the auction and determined it is the real deal and that I got one hell of a price cause it retails for almost three times that price. I cant wait to get the pipe on and see what its all about.

I believe CHM stands for Carmichael Honda Motorsports. They are in Carmichael, California.

Carmichael Honda Owns Championship Horsepower Motorsports. They are on the same premises in different buildings. I've been there and had my 505EX dynoed there. They build quality products.

i just emailed them and told them what my mods are or are not i should say, and asked them what I should be running for jets.

Hey guys I have one more ? for you. Can you tell me what my jetting should be with a stock 2002 400ex with this pipe and a stock header and a K&N air filter with outerware and no airbox lid. I was told the quad also has a stage one hot cam, but I doubt it. I live in cedar rapids iowa the temp is from -30 to 100 degrees not sure what my elevation is so thats why i told you the city and state. Thanks a ton guys.

thats a copy of the email I sent them unless one of you can answer...

I will get a video up as soon as I get the pipe on and jetted hopefully before it snows...

If it was me, I'd try a #40 or #42 slow jet. Check www.jetsrus.com. The #42 might be too rich, but you never know... That's why I started with the #40 and kept the #42 for more mods down the road... Hope that helps!

Why did you buy the quite core, did you not like it without it?
Also what mods do you have on your quad and what jets are you running?

the pipe was way too loud without the quiet core. my other mods are a je stock bore 10.5 to 1 piston, xr400 cam, and a bored stock carb. i believe my jetting is a 42 pilot and a 162 main jet at about 3000' above sea level. the 162 main jet may be a tad to rich but not too bad.
