A buddy has an 06 450 and we are having some carb problems with it. Its hell to get it started, but once its warmed up it still has a problem. When you rev the throttle quick (from idle), the engine dies or bogs severly. Is there any type of adjustment on the carb? The thing is basically stock. Any ideas?

Sounds like a stock 06. ;) They are pretty restricted from the factory. I would suggest installed a T handle fuel screw to aid in air fuel adjustments and possibly changing the leak jet.

You may also want to check the valves and the cranking pressure of the motor to cure your starting problems.

Thanks for the input. I never realized the stock carb didnt have an air screw until I was looking at the exploded diagrams. Where can we get an adjustable air screw and how tough is it to install. Seems kinda crazy that Honda would not install one. My old 400, now a 440 has one and only needs adjustment when I ride in above 3000ft altitude.

you will need to take the stock one out and make sure to put the oring washer and spring on the new one
