get a new one. Pull the old one out with a pick. I got a whole pick set for like $10 at sears works great. Then just press the new one in.

The only way I know of to tell is to fill both sides and run it. Then you need to drain them both and measure how much comes out.

i always pop the old 1 ouy w/ a pick
and before i install new seal put a bead of non harding premetex #2 on the seal

just to seal it if theres and flaws

well if the seal in the motor is bad, it will just oil out of the new seal.

Are you talking about the shift shaft seal or the seal where the front sprocket is?

im replacing the seal where the shifter is, but like 30ex said there could be a bad seal in the motor causing to much pressure? ek
