eclipse?? is it too good to be true

ok i found a eclipse for 1200 bucks and its the style between the 93 and the 03... my friends have the 93 and a nother has the 03... its got a after market exhause, intake, lights, head tail and under glow, i dont know if its a auto or a man.
its got 140000 miles and it needs a sel somewhere... leaking something... the guy thought it was a seal in the tranny...

thats what i thought... on ebay there isnt one under 5 and those are older too... i drove my friends 03 today.. its a 5 speed... i ahvent do a stick in a long time... so i was a bit rusty but i was doing 70 in 3rd... and i was like i gotta get me one of these...

definitely an auto, just to let you know if you can get all the stock parts back, id change it back completely to stock, take all that crap paint off the inside of it, sell the aftermarket parts and sell the car bone stock (after you fix it) and you will definitely pull well over $3K for all the stuff

Looks like a 94-95 GS or RS, which means no AWD or Turbo.

These cars are notorious for crank walk and if it is not running now or if it does start and sounds bad thats is probly the problem.

I would personally pass on this car unless you are willing to put alot of money in to it.

Speed wise you'd be looking at high 15's low 16s in 1/4 mile run. The turbo awd(GSX) are some fun cars and are alot faster, but are costly and it's hard to find a nice one anymore.

he wants a grand. i asked if he would go lower, he heaid he thought it was the front seal on the tranny? do these have a transfer case?!?! dont know much about car trannys, know alot on the motors... and body and audio....

Wrong, there is so such thing as an 03' eclipse AWD. Only the first gen(90-94) and second gen(95-99) had an awd option, but only when it is a turbo car.

94 and 95's are entirely different looking cars. This car will not crankwalk as it is the 420a, not the 4g63 found in the turbo cars. And crankwalk is overrated.

If you're going to buy a sports car it should be a manual. Also I would suggest trying to find a un-messed with car (I.e. exhaust, intake etc.) that usually means the PO probably abused it.

But, it's up to you.

My Tacoma is 4wheel drive with big mud tires and 3'' lift and it will do 70 in third? most 5speeds will.

that was my first sports car that i drove that was a stick... i normally drive like a dodge 2500 with a cummins in it or a f250 power stroke or soemthing like that trucks and stuff...
but fuel for them is soo $$$ that i wanted a little sports car...
i should just buy a truck that gets ok gas mileage. gas is 319 and fule is 3 something... more than gas

If you get the truck, look at Banks for a chip or other mods for it. I got a 97 trans am that will do 110-120 in third. It does 150 in fifth and you still have sixth gear but you really cant get much over 153-155.

Ok I read it. Mustangs..ehh...Anyway we sell alot of diablo tuners for gas, try one of them. They offer free updated tunes on their website and are a good company. Also I agree with banks they are also a top rate company. SCT does alot of ford stuff aswell.
Also if your looking for a "cheap sports car" Id look into the 240sx, although I dont really condone it as the community is flooded with rice headed punks, but its deff a car to consider with its torquey motor and amazingly balanced well handling chassis. Here is my 97 (rare and expensive) but you can get the pre 97s cheap.

get a dp tuner chip for that truck...you'll never look back

itpdiesel.com dp is only custom progamming...you tell them everything about your truck...they make you a chip that will make it perform at its maximum.

Tony Wildman is another one of the best 7.3 tuners, check his site out at totaldieselperformance.com
