87 250x Good deal? [Archive] - ATV Riders Forum

I have the chance to get a 87 250x. It has been raced and is not all the way put togother. It has aftermarket shocks,plastics and who knows what else. The engine is suppose to have a fresh top end. My buddy got it from a guy who owed him money for some work he did. The bike was raced as recent as Sept of 06. I can pick it up for $400 bucks but I know nothing of these 250x quads. Is it worth the money and work of putting it togother? Also is this the same frame as a 250R? Thanks for the help.

get it good deal and no not the same as a 250r frame

Good deal. Esp if it has aftermarket shocks. You can part it out for more than that. ;)

It's virtually the same machine as the 300ex. Shorter stroke, and kickstart. Most all parts are interchangable outside of the bottom end, CDI, and wiring harness.

IMHO, it's the better of the 2 machines. ;)

Sounds good to me. 400 bucks might be a fun project!:cool: I love my 250x

I've owned two of the 250X quads (both '92 models) and LOVED them both. Sold one to a friend, and only selling my current 250X in order to build up my 250R.
