I could only imagine how much a carbon fiber swing arm costs, :grr . I need a new swing arm on my quad. I cracked it and got it rewelded three times and I keep cracking the weld.

How do you adjust the chain?:huh

ok heres the details about the set up. The swing arm is Aluminum and Adjustable up to an inch. the axle is indeed carbon fiber and very thick!! about 2 inches thick but very light weight. Yes the setup is mounted on a Cdale. If you want more info on the swingarm talk to NACS racing. this was sitting out front of their semi truck. I bet the whole setup will be over a grand to buy

My friend is a test rider for Cannondale and he told me about this set up about 3 months ago. You would be surprised what those boys got in the works!!! Just wait til you see the '04 plastics.... if they make it to '04, that is....

thats about the trickest thing i have ever seen!

11-06-2002, 09:02 PM
The trickest thing Ive seen on a quad is a Hinson Racing QUick Change Clutch Cover Mod, or Elka shocks, and a polished 250r motor with red cases. Carbon bead's are right behind those and so are graves seat sover's

another thing about that swingarm is that the swingarm is wider in the back so there is less of a chance of bending an axle.

How the heck would you change the sprocket???

And it's sad that people still knock Cannondale. At least they're pushing the envelope through technology, something no other manufacturer is doing. Every single other make of quad is using the same technology they used 15 years ago. Is 15 years ago's technology good enough for you? I respect Cannondale's desire to move in new directions.

Even I like Cannondale:macho

11-07-2002, 07:05 AM
I like this setup..

Actually i think C-dale is top notch and before long I might have one in my garage...

looks to me like cannondale converted a bike swingarm and put it on a quad. I dont know what the benefit of this would be? it may be lighter, but at the same time, where it splits off, u think those would crack pretty easy if u land crooked. Plust thats 2 extra seals to worry about. Atleast they are toying with new ideas!

it's custom made. you should see the bearings for that thing...the axel is a few inches around, just to give you an idea

Anyone looked at the back of a lakota sport lately? If you have, you will notice its swingarm and the one in the pic are nearly identical. I can see where they got the idea from. The only difference is, the lakotas bearing carrier goes all the way through. I see a carbon fiber axle next on my list. :D

that was a prototype that i don't think ever got going.

I saw an add in an atvsport once for carbon fiber axles, no idea who made them though. it was something like 6 or 700 bucks
