i instaled stage 2 hotcams adj valves rode it broke it in then readj them but now it seems like the valves are ticking way louder now? is this common or is something wrong? i went back and rechecked the clearnce on the valves. 13intake. 15exhaust. i no the "400ex tick" but its louder...thanxs
aftermarket cams will make the 400ex tick even louder

Why the bigger valve gaps? 10, 12 is what the OEM calls for. I just put mine back together and I'm not hearing anything. It's a Hotcam.

I used the OEM specs. I got the bike used and it had a Stage 3 in it already and I didn't see anything on Hotcams website to suggest anything different.

umm please explain your vavle clearance. Not sure what 13 and 15 mean (I believe that's what you said). I run a web cam 463/9i, the most aggressive race cam on the market and my clearnce is set at .003" and .005" so when you refer to 13 do you mean .013" and are you talking standard or metric? Just trying to get it cleared up and if it is what you run it sounds like way too much to me. I think with a hot cam you run somewhere around .006" and .008" someone with a hot cam correct me if i'm wrong.

I set mine at 0.004 (0.10) intake and 0.005 (0.12) exaust as OEM calls for. If these are incorrect for a Hotcam, could someone tell me what they should be set at. I'm breaking in rings and I don't want it to be off.

when i bought my stage 2 hotcams it came with whats called " a hot cams card". it reads
intake lift 9.0mm
lobe center 106
duration@1mm 254
valve lash 13 mm
Exhaust lift 8.9mm
lobe center 104.25
Duration@1mm 248.5
valve lash 15 mm
so i set my valve lash at the 13mm and the 15mm. those are all the specs that i got when i bought my hotcam stage 2 new.

I think I'm just going to call them to find out. You may want to do the same because they are different cams. I hate to know that I've had them wrong but what do you do.
It sounds like your gaps may be too big but I really don't have any idea:confused:
