I have a stock 400ex but im about to order a hmf pipe slip on could i put a 450r carb on an get some noticable power increase or just stick with my stock carb and re-jet it and air filter, i also have dropped a tooth on my front sprocket?

Go with the second chose.. wait on the 450r carb until your have a high performace bike like a 416, 426, 440, 460 or something like that. I have a stock carb i think on my 440 and all i did was alot of engine mods and stuff and its just as good as getting a 450r carb... just not as good throttle response... but yea save your money and get the other stuff first.

I agree. You may see a small increase but not enough for the money. Get the other mods first, then get the carb.

do not base your decisions on word of mouth  . if you can find a 450r carb for a decent price somewhere, buy it. you will not regret it. i have gains all across the throttle range, including amazing response. the 450r carb is a great mod for the money, either on a highly modded engine or stock.
