Pro Taper 36T Rear Sprocket

I ordered the Pro Taper 36T rear sprocket that is listed for the KFX450R. When I got it I found out that it uses TAPERED bolts not the stock bolts. So far my local two shops don’t have the correct bolts so I am now on a search to find them.
Also it doesn’t have the mud grooves that they advertise, even on the package it came in!

Just wanted to warn any of you that were thinking about getting the Pro Taper sprocket to also plan on getting new bolts.

let me know where you get the bolts, i have the sprocket but have not tried to install it yet.

Ok I decided to take off my old sprocket to make sure this new one actually fit. Guess what? It doesn't, the bolt holes don’t even line up. Pro Taper does not put the part number on the sprocket. It is only stamped “36”. Either someone put the wrong sprocket in the package or Pro Taper is screwed up. They list the part number 02-3011 as fitting the KFX 450R and also the LTZ 400. The package has the correct part number but the description says KAW KXF450, SUZ LT-R 450.
Out of all the threads about the rear sprocket I have never seen anyone mention the SUZ fitting it but rather the TRX 400 with the tapered bolts.
Now I get the return a mail order part and deal with trying to get the correct one.
I will update the thread when I get some answers.

I had the same thing happen to me when I ordered the 35t. after i talked to the live help person, they had one of their tech guys take one and check to see if it was the right one or not, they came to the same conclusion as I did, the bolt holes don't line up. after they checked they called me to confirm that i was right about it not fitting. they then gave me the option of either sending it back for a refund or trading it for another one of equal value. I choose the refund, took the money and bought a 34t from Sprocket Specialists.

I too bought mine from Rocky Mountain but I don't think the problem is with them. Except if they are getting returns because the parts aren't correct and they keep selling them anyway. They were very nice to deal with. I called them and told them what was wrong. They emailed me a return shipping label and said they would check it when they received it. I could either get a 2nd one sent to me or get a refund.

I think the problem is with Pro Taper since they list the same sprocket for the Suzuki LTZ 400. Also the label on the package said KXF 450 and LT 450. It doesn't even match there own website.

they had told me the same thing when i baught one from them about it being labeled wrong by pro taper. the thing i don't get is why they took it off their site for awhile and then put it back on, and it still doesn't fit right?

Maybe it was an oversight by someone. They don't even have mine back yet but they pulled the Pro Taper sprockets off their website for the 450. I wanted a Renthal but the expected date is in March 2008. I bought a 15T Renthal front sprocket until I can get another rear. I hope it works because Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

this will be the second time that they have pulled the pro taper off of there website for the 450 that i know of. hopefully the next time they put it back on the site it will be the right one.

i bought a pro taper 39 tooth for trail ridin so i wouldn't have to ride my clutch and it bolted up fine so maybe it is just a pro taper problem because i got mine from rocky mountain and i have always gotten good products

Their official statement was I was getting a refund on my sprocket because they don't carry a rear sprocket in that size for the KFX 450. They pulled all the Pro Taper sprockets from there website for this quad. The Renthals won't be available for awhile.
