View Full Version : Axle Sliding Left to Right! Help!

Bike: 1986 Honda TRX250r
Stock Swing Arm (Pro-Link)
Aftermarket Carrier


I've recently started having this problem. The axle has a quarter inch of play from left to right. What part of the swing arm dictates how the axle sits and keeps it in place?

Make sure your carrier bearings are if good shape

Make sure your axle locknut is tight.

Oh yeah. I always check it. Also, the axle and nut are stock, so there are never any problems there.

Oh Crap! Hey Man! Long Time no Chat!

The bearings are a couple of months old. When I took the axle out, I checked them and they spin just fine.

I did notice that the brake pads are worn to the metal! The pistons for the brakes are fully extended and I feel that may have caused the sprocket to slide over and eat up the carrier.

Still not sure!

What about your chain adjustment?

I know your axle will wobble if it isnt tightened

Stock axle nuts are the ones that cause the most problems. Also if your axle is shifting over you should be popping chains off left and right, and if its off just a little bit and not enough to pop it off, its probably eating the life right out of the chain.
