I heard through the grape vein that Gust and Polaris are teaming up for the 2008 season. Is there any truth behind this? Last I knew he still did no sign with Suzuki

Nothing against both doug gust or eichner but if polaris does want to step it up i think they need to go after younger talent... both of them guys are great at what they do so u can not take that away from them but i just stating for polaris's future

thats if this even true

Other than the fact that Gust has been on Slozuki for ever, it does kinda make sense.

well the bikes have proved themselves strong with having caleb moore fliping a pretty much stock quad...and we know they should have plenty of motor

I'm pretty sure Gust will end his career on the LTR450....He did after all have a BIG hand in developing the new Quadracer.

I cant see Doug quiting suzuki. He helped design the LT-R and Im pretty sure he'll finish his career on it.

Gust quiting Suzuki would be like Farr quiting KTM. It wouldnt make any sense.:ermm:

Have you seen Dougs house, lake, shop, lawn, practice track, and his hummer? Oh wait he has a plane too!! I don't think Doug is struggling at all in the money department.......

but my guess is that with polaris his getting delivered much more of a challenge and i am sure they would just as much for an engineer

but this is still speculation....not even sure if this is even true

Hmm, I hope you don't think that came from his race winnings?

Racing at the pro level is a business now that requires business decisions. Just like Ricky going from Kawi to Honda then retired with Suzuki...it wasn't because the bikes where better or faster, it was because of the deal that was offered.

Gust was also with TC racing prior to the LTR's. you don't see Tom building motors for Doug now. Again, that was a business decision, nothing against Tom.

So until the ink is dry on the line, any speculation now isn't going to help things. Everyone is going to be open to making changes for the upcoming season.

Yeah I know Doug had/has his excavating business but thats kinda on hold for him.

Who wants to make wager that Doug will be on the LTR for '08?

I found this on Suzuki's website:

Lopusnak went on to comment about 2008. "We're really excited about coming back with three of the top riders in the country. Doug Gust, Dustin Wimmer and Chad Wienen are going to be tough to beat. With the new 2008 QuadRacer R450 and this incredible combination of riders, it's going to be an exciting year ahead for Suzuki and Team Rockstar/MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro Taper."

I can't picture doug gust on a polaris, but I guess it's his decision. Doubt it will happen though

That comment could of been posted when the 2008 was released as it was alot better than the 2007. So its sort of a booster for the 2008 season they are saying. Could of been quoted before contract time easly.

I doubt it will happen, but if it did, the only explanation I Could come up with is that he has gone as far as he can with Suzuki, time for a new challenge.

Don't know if it is true, but in the latest atv mags that I have got, he is in none of the Suzuki ads. Only Wimmer and Weinen.

I talked to Gust's old mechanic a few weeks back. I mentioned it to him and that was the first time he's heard that one. Then again you never know...but i highly doubt he would make the switch to bolaris.
