Will wrapping the header do anything on a 450 except keeping your leg from getting burned?

Dissapates heat from the motor, cooler motor runs better..

Thats for sure a cooler motor runs better. My quad doesn't fade in performance since I got an oil cooler for it.

i have the heat wrap by my leg to help me from burning my boots but exhaust wrap only serves a purpose in the bends of an exhausts header system... hence why alot of people put them on the bends of headers of cars/trucks... not necesary to put it on the whole exhaust...

the black header wrap looks good for a few months then fades after you wash it a few times

the white header wrap just gets dirty and looks like poo after a few rides

i heard from a few that wrapped their headers that it held in the moisture and rusted their exhaust

yeah it will do that if ur exhaust isnt ceramic coated or stainless...

Header wrap doesn't disipate the heat. It holds in the heat. Hotter air flows faster.

However, the benefit on an ATV exhaust would be so minimal it wouldn't do anyhting but look ugly and rust out your pipe. ;)

would putting it on the outside of the airbox help or wouldn't it be noticeable?

what? the air box inside doesnt heat up that much were you need to wrap it.

Think of air as syrup. The hotter it is the faster it flows. The wrap keeps it hotter helping it get out faster. Will it help performance? YES. Will you feel the gain? NO.
