Coolant leak?

While riding this weekend i had coolant leaking from somewhere behind the cylinder. Could not tell where it came from exactly. I smelled the coolant then looked down to see it boiling behind the cylinder but it evaporated pretty quickly. Coolant level looked normal so it didnt leak much. Anybody have this happen before? It was on a 05 450r

could a bad water pump seal cause coolant to come out of the breather possibly.
