if a 440 is built right, it can. my 440 will hang with a completely stock 450r. i dont have an exhaust though haha

You can make a 440 run as good and maybe even better than a nice 450 but the amount of money needed to do so definitely isnt worth it. A stock 450 with some suspension work is pretty hard to beat if you know how to ride.

Even though a 440 can keep up with a stock 450R, I know a guy with a 500 FST kit on his EX and still can't beat a modified 2006 & up 450R

If the 450 has only bolts on's, a well built EX can keep up or beat the 450. Once internal mods are done to the 450 it becomes much less likely that the EX will keep up.

My 440 has no problems hanging with and beating piped/filtered 450's.

first off, rider plays a huge part in it

the 440 tuned right will hang with a stock 450

but it dont take much to open the 450 up, with just the 300 dollar hrc kit (06+) and its not that close
