i dont mean how fast it goes because the gearing changes but how fast do 400ex accelerate when they modified with a 440 big bore and after market exhaust... intake, rev box, cams?

I rode a 440 without knowing it at the time and wow, power through every gear. The quad felt like a light switch instant power and every gear it keeps pulling so strong.

You wont tell a big difference just boring it. I cam will be needed to make everything work nicely. Compression is also a factor in how much torque or take off power you have.

Not trying to talk you out of a 440, but a well built 416 is also pretty fast. Plus you dont have to get it resleeved or get the case bored.

I got a 465 kit done from Trinity and it absolutely rips....neck and neck with the 660 raptor drag race.

Thats true, I was just automatically thinking of the kits with the larger sleeve just because they are supposed to be more reliable. Im not sure, thats just what I hear.

my cousin had a 440 in his, and a sparks pipe, and a few other mods, but im not exactly sure what, and my 416, the mods are in my sig, could easily hang with it.

I just had my motor redone and just went up to a 406 and I can tell a pretty significant difference in it. I dont know if it was because I had some compression loss before the bore or what, but there is a big difference thru 2nd and 3rd. 440 has to be wicked fast. And to add it really matters who does your work on your motor. The first people I took it to wanted $800 in just parts so I took it to a different shop where I knew it would be done right and for cheaper. Got the whole job dont for almost $700 so it really matters who you trust. jmo good luck.

hes right.. it all depends on who builds it.. or better yet, how its built. a stock bore motor will beat a 440 all day long.... if its built right.
