Is there a big difference in preformance between these two. The price difference is large, is it worth it to pay more and get the FCR. Which one is easier to install? I am running...

-465 trinity stroker - (I am very pleased with this, it is neck and neck with the mod. 660 raptor)

-powerbomb headers with R4 slip on

-pro design air filter

-2000ex stock carb.(jetted perfect)

From what I understand they are both basically the same carb. I dont know personally but i have heard that the 450 carb is easier to tune. Not to sure, I havnt had a problem tuning my fcr. But it is definitely worth it to get either one. Jetted correctly, it should no longer be neck and neck with the raptor :D

the '04-'05 450R carb and the FCR are NOT the same carb. They are very different. The 450R carb is a round slide and the FCR is a flat slide carb. There probably other fundamental diffrences that I'm unaware of, but to say they are basically the same is not correct.

Mihealj, save time and moeny and go with the 450R carb. I have had both and my 416EX ran much better with the 450R carb.

If there both tuned correctly the fcr produces more horses than the 450r carb, but the fcr does cost about $150 bucks more depending where you get it at.

I had a 450r carb on once and hated it, could never get the jetting right, but with the fcr I havent had a problem with jetting at all.

YEs zrpilot, the old 450r carb is different. The 450r carb I am referring to is the newer one they are using, it is a flat slide. I just assumed michaelj would want to know about that one.

I agree, it seems like my FCR pulled harder on the top end then the 450R carb.

It seems like there are alot of different opinions, I guess the stats show that the FCR produces more HP(from what you guys are saying), I realize the 06-08 450R have the FCR carb already installed on them, I am trying to find the right carb. for my size engine. I would rather spend the money and get the better carb. rather than getting a carb. and not being happy with it.

You may want the 41mm fcr. I have a 416. Sparks said i could get either the 39mm or 41mm, but the 39mm would give a 416 better low end and the 41mm Is designed more for big bore and stroker applications. And i totally agree. Its better to go ahead and get what you know works or you will end up spending more in the long run.
