With the rear rims i see alot of people go with the 8" rims for mx. and im just wondering why. i have 9" rims in the rears now and i keep bending/cracking my rims with my 18" tires. Are the 8" rims more durable? is handling better? any help will do thanks

the smaller the wheels the stronger they are.

your rims may be bending because you may not be running enough air pressure. I have used the same set of 9" rims for 3 years. More MX tire selection with 8" rims though.

like quad97 said you have a lot more tire selection with 8" and they are stronger but 9" are ok too just most guys use 8" for mx because of the tires, since you keep bending yours then you might want to think about getting the 8's

There's more tire sidewall with an 8" rim, so the tire absorbs more of the force. Your 9" rim is ok, but harsh landings are more likely to bend them since the sidewall is shorter.

I run 9's only cause i am running a 19" tire instead of the 18", I'm a big guy and like the extra height of the 19.

I run 9" rears beacause of less sidewall flex, I HATE 8" rear...
Personal choice really.
