Which would you get?

I finally ran into some money, and im torn between buying +2 a-arms or 450r shocks first. i can always save up again after the other but what would do me better first? do the a-arms perform well with stock shocks? i DO know that the 450r shocks are stiff etc.. when they are not redone on stock arms.

I would get plus 2 a arms and thena axle if you dont have one already. Then get 450r shocks later on and yes there will not be a problem with the 400ex stock shocks with plus 2 a arms. I had plus 2s on my 450 without a axle and hated it. The last thing would be 450r shocks because a arms make the quad sit a little bit lower in the front but wiht the shocks it will make up the difference and put you back where you started from with height without getthing them redone. If you dont race they will be fine without a revalve. In my opinion it is a waste to buy $200 shocks and then a $400 job to get them for a 400ex and ship them and stuff paying that and you can find used aftermarket shocks on ebay or else save up more for new ones like elka or tcs.

I would get the +2... I got +1 i thing, and the stock shocks are good with them.

I have had the 450R shocks before. Buy a set that are set up for your atv!
