Is this a good deal for an Athena big bore kit? Also what kind of power differences are there between stock and the 480 and 480 vs. 510 kit? Are these usually easy to install, just switch the head and put the new piston in? Thanks for the help guys.

the 515cc DRI National Kit shows a huge difference. Never dealt with a 480cc and not to sure if i trust athena. The 480 is a direct bolt on.......u may just need to adjust jetting a tad. The 515 I would recommend changing out a lot of stuff. wiseco makes a 480 bolt on kit that i would trust more.

Can you explain why you'd trust the wiseco over the athena? Also a 515cc DRI national kit isn't a simple piston/cylinder bolt on, that is a lot of motor work.

Jetting may need to be adjusted, true.

That's a good question. I honestly thought they used their own not really sure though now that you mention it. It's a good chance they may not.

I would chose the wiseco over athena because ive only heard bad things about athena's sleeves.....IE cracking, does not fit nor align. Ive used wiseco on every bike ive had since about 95. And have not had a single problem with any of their stuff yet. The only one i trust more than wiseco is baldwin motorsports. But like everyone has there own opinion there is mine. Hope it dont cause a ruckus because that it not the intention of this. I have just heard more cons than pros on the athena 480. And i never said the 515cc national was a direct bolt on. I said it had alot more to change but i didnt phrase it correctly and appologize for that. I see how you think i could have meant that. sorry.

i appreciate your opinion,as for myself i can understand where your position is on the question at hand, however i have had the pleasure of running their kits on my old z's and the last z i still have with 0 problems, did you know that baldwin uses wiseco

I do all sorts, I just want to have the fastest bike where ever I go lol. Probably equal amounts of dune and trail riding, no mx stuff.

then dont do the 515. Not going to work out well with trail riding. The engine is built for MX with the 515 and you would have a ***** of a time getting through the woods on that. Now dune riding would be good for the 515 but if you still plan on trail riding at most do a 480. And always remember......the fastest bike dont always win. The best rider wins.
