sometimes when i am just cruising around, it just acts like someone hit the kill switch and it stalls. then the first kick when i try to restart it, it backfires, then a kick or two later it starts back up. this problem is trying my last bit of patience. any help is appreciated

oh and my mods are HRC kit, 200 main jet, stock pilot, HRC needle on 4th position, stock everything else

What year is it? 200 main jet seems pretty large, but have you checked your valves or made sure your timing on the cam is lined up correctly?

its an 05, and i havent yet checked the timing on it. but i have noticed it has a noise in the motor when it is idling low.

yeah drop the jet down to like a 150 or somewhere, i rarely hear of a 200 working with dialed in jetting,

With the HRC kit you should have a 185 main jet.

I have an 04 with a stock motor, EHS lid and a Yosh slip on and I have a 182 main jet. I am only like 30 feet above sea level.

When was the last time you checked your valve clearance?

I would make sure the idle is high enough.

the 04/05 HRC kti comes with a 185 main in it. thats what it had in it when i got it. so a 200 main could be about right. it wont idle with the 185 in it. it gets hot very quick

the main jet has nothing to do with the idle.

I think you need to check the valves.

if im not mistaken, the valves should be at .006 intake, and .011 exhaust

yes +/- .001

ok, i checked the valves and they could stand to be shimmed up. i will try to find someone around that has shims for it. will post if i still have an issue after this

LOL.

turns out, someone who had it before me has cut or ripped the spark plug boot and the metal part was exposed and grounding it out occasionally. took one off of my buddy's bike and hasn't done it since. i was checking the valves out when i seen this.
