Not a bad looking car..Would look alot better black but oh well! I was looking at a Prelude for a while but ended up going with an Integra GSR. I love how people always dog imports but dont realize how much fun they are driving. They are so reliable and cost nearly nothing to drive. I just laugh back at them and let them keep driving their pos cars.

It's not any fault of the Honda car itself. iiiiiiiiiiight. Heres the breakdown

2006 Ford Mustang GT
4.6 v8- 300hp.

2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT
3.8 V6- 263 HP

Ok lets see. The Eclipse has only 37 less horsepower, and its a v6. Hmm... Obviously the Stang is faster, but its a v8, compared to a v6. But is 300 all they can make out of a v8? And its obvious that the Eclipse will out handle the stang in every way.

Now lets look at a Mustang from 1991 and a Mitsubishi from 1991...

Ford Mustang Cobra
pushing a hugeee 235 HP out of a 5.0 v8

Mitsubishi 3000GT
3.0 v6 turbo. 300 HP

OK so, the 3000gt has more HP, and is considered one of the best handling cars from Jeremy Clarkson himself.....

Your car may be pushing 400hp but its also weights 3,700. So a 300hp car that weights in under 3,000 with awd will have chance of beating. Key to winning drag races = power to weight ratio. Am i a import guy? not at all, this is our car.

FYI. i raced a stage 3 rouch 2006 mustang with 450hp and my friend paid $14,000 for the rouch package, and waxed him in our stock z06. Walked from him like he was sitting still..

Do you know what VTEC is? Its Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control.
Now if VTEC is soooo bad, why does the new Viper, and other various AMERICAN cars have there own little version of variable valve timing?

Its what makes the power. Hating on VTEC is like hating on a power band on a two stroke.

You obviously do not follow the german car scene. 300hp out of a 1.8 T is a pretty common thing. In fact you can get 300hp with the stock turbo.

Ive seen a purple VW rabbit rape a new corvette, viper, mustang, etc.

he's right, even the Evo 9 has MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system), which is similar to VTEC. But honda's make no power until vtec kicks in, which is somewhere after 6krpms. It's like really bad turbo lag without the power of a turbo.

300 hp out of a 1.8 is not uncommon at all. Honda's 1.8 liter b18 is very capable of much more than 300hp

i was going to say that....

those euro cars are extremly tuneable and respond to engine mods extremly well. once you start getting into big turbos and internal work, these little vw gti's and jettas can push out some impressive numbers and definitly hold their own against the big american cars.

No ****ing **** your z06 is a better car then my mustang? Maybe if i didnt have to worry about payin insurance, i would of went out and bought a Z06. Im already working for my car, (gas/insurance), theres no way i would be able to afford a corvette.

i know people with mustangs that would stroll that zo6, and for one, try running an 03/04 cobra, not a freakin pig (05+ GT's) and see what happens

A huge percentage of the American public do NOT race for a living, or every weekend. They need a vehichle...that parts are easy to find and are cheaper to get.

Now tell me, how cheap are parts to replace on imports at the moment? Unless I'm mistaken (probably am), but I'd say they're more expensive.

Another reason why American (North American that is) are so much popular is because they have a history of being reliable and are easy accessible to buy.

Another reason why American (North American that is) are so much popular is because they have a history of being reliable and are easy accessible to buy.
I disagree. A LOT of import car parts are very cheap and very very accessible. That article I posted stated"Consider, though, that if you want to buy a more American car than the Mustang – the Mustang -- try the Camry, the Accord, the Avalon, the Corolla…" I work at a Honda dealer and the parts are not hard to get at all. In fact, most are made in the U.S. at specific plants. Imports usually have a higher resale value and the reliability thing - American cars are not what I would call reliable. I see Hondas with over 300,000 miles and no troubles at all. We even had an 06 with over 150,000 miles. I never see imports dying like domestics do. You could drive a honda through a swamp and off a cliff and it would start. So for those that DO NOT race, an import is the way to go. A Chevy dealer is right next to us and I was told that an Envoy loses close to $15,000 in value as soon as you drive it off the lot. In fact, many of our Honda techs are old Chevy techs.

Also, it's funny that all of the comparisons I see here are with drag racing. Imports shine on the track more so than in a drag race for the most part. The fact that imports with half the engine can keep up with the v8 land yachts is pathetic (oops, I forgot, the imports are domestics and domestics are imports now). I would like to see these big engined v8 pick-ups on the race track LOL. Now that would be a sight. At least the American cars (if that's what you want to call them) are starting to stray away from suspension set ups found on Amish horse buggies. Yaay for leaf springs...

I can have all the fun in the world on a race track or in a drag race...and still get 22 mpg.

I went out to go to school this morning. And you guessed it, didn't start. Now my mom's VW on the other hand, has had no problems at all. None.

Sounds like the '98 body style and up. I know they had electronic problems.

Take good care of your vehichle, and you won't have any problems. My dad has had all Chevy trucks, and not a single problem with any of them. I'm currently driving an S-10, and the only thing I've had to replace was the O2 sensor, and that's only because it just rounded 95k miles.

Now, my friends mom had a BMW and it was nothing but problems. And the parts were expensive as hell. Now, I know that has nothing to do with Honda because they're two entirely different companies.

Ford, Chrysler, and GM Motor won't go down without a fight, so I'll be expecting big things from them in the near future.

The BMW is an exception. I agree they are expensive, but for a reason- its a BMW. How many BMWs compared to corollas do you see on the road? They are expensive compared to an everyday truck because they are luxury cars. It goes without saying parts for a rare luxury car are going to be expensive.

Also, taking care of a vehicle isn't going to guarantee that it will be problem free. If a certain year has electrical problems, that is a design problem, not an owner problem. You could scrub every nut and bolt with a tooth brush and still end up having a dead truck.

One of the beauties of a lot of imports is that it's built with common sense. For example, two weeks ago, I was helping a tech. work on a supercharged Integra. The guy said it just stopped on the free way (the engine shut off). After trying to crank it over, we saw that the distributor was not spinning. We take the cam gear covers off and UH OH...no timing belt. I was thinking well so much for the valves in this engine, but I was wrong. The head is free floating...what that means is that even at TDC, the valve CANNOT hit the pistons. All we had to do was slap a new belt on and bam, it was done. Also, all of the Hondas I work on are EXTREMELY maintenance friendly. Oil filters are very easy to access, pollen filters are a 1 min job, and brakes are so easy because they come apart with one bolt. Even if you do have a problem, the warranties on Honda's are amazing.

I used to love domestics but I lost interest. They need to step it up with designs and tone down the complexity. Look at why there are so many ricers. They can be fixed by total idiots and never die. We even had a lady driving around with no oil in the engine. She drove around all day and no seizing occurred. With a domestic, you even breath on it and you have a check engine light, but that is my experience.

Anyone ever notice when you're at the river or lake most of the time everything is flowing along nicely as it should but occasionally you see the garbage pooling together in a certain area?

It's kinda like some of the threads here in the open forum...:ermm:
