Best bet is to buy another stock swingarm from Ebay. If it is an 04-05 then +1 might be a benefit. Newer models I think the stock length works best.

Aftermarket Swing Arms are quite expensive when you factor in the carrier and what not.

Well i got an 05 swingarm , Your sayin if i bought an aftermarket swingarm i need to get a different carrier? What about a brake line if its a plus 1?

Some of the aftermarket swingarms recommend there carrier but you should be able to run your stock carrier I believe. I think if you went with a +1 swing arm then your brake line will stretch. I had a LSR Swingarm on my z400 and it was a +1.25 and the stock length brake line stretch with no problems.

if you bike is a 05, get a 06 swinger, There longer, and will work perfect.

Didnt they change the design of the rear linkage as well? Do you think he would need the 06+ linkage as well since the swingarm is longer?

Getting a 06 swingarm is an option. You don't have to get a new carrier with the swingarm.

I WOULD STAY WITH STOCK 05 IF ITS MORE FEESIBLE. I ALSO WOULDN'T RECOMMEND GOING LONGER BECAUSE YOUR ADDING LENGTH TO YOUR QUAD AND TO THE PIVOT DISTANCE. WHICH CAN BE A BIT OF A DIIFFERENCE WHEN YOU GET IN THE REALLY TIGHT STUFF. JMO

if you put the 06 swing arm on, the 05 linkage and shock will not work, the bolt hole for the linkage on the 06 swinger is father back, so u would have to buy complete set up. the 04-05 trx450 has a shorter wheel base than the 06-08 trx450. the 04-05 tend to push in the front, because they are shorter, (less weight on the front end) now if you weight only 130-140 lbs, you would need to stay with a stock length swinger. the 04-05 weight ratio from front to rear is something like 42 % front and 58% rear, by putting a 1 1/8 longer swing arm u center the weight better.

Actually the 04-05 450 steers much better the 06 and newer.

As for a swing arm updating the rear end to the 06 swing arm, linkage and shock if a good way to go

most guys replace the 06-08 spindles and hubs, when installing long travel front ends. i agree the 04-05 front components work better.

but your issue is rear shock, question is: do you want to buy shock, swing arm, and linkage, or just a swing arm. and remember if you put a longer swing arm you will need your shock re valved and spring replaced.
