I need to figure out the % Composition of ammonium sulfite can anyone show me how to figure this out?

You mean find out the percentage of each element that composes it?

(NH4)2SO3

Find out the total mass in g's. You can find this information on a periodic table. N is like 14 and H4 is 1.008X4. Add it all up, and then divide that number by the g's in each individual element. So lets say the total mass is like 200 and O3 is (16X3)=48.

48/200=%composition of O.

Hope that helps. I'm not the greatest at chem. :p

pretty sure what you just tried to show him is not correct. You would need to find out the number of mols of the compound for that to work.... then multiply by the g/mol of each element to find the mass fraction.

there also is a purity composition calculations... not sure what he is asking for though

yeah if u learned g/mol and 1 mol and all that dumb stuff i forget.. then it should do sumthin with that! i hope thats a step in the right direction atleast! good luck
