I was just seeing if any of you have any certain techniques as far as laucnhing your 450 goes. I just recently installed and HRC kit and UNI filter on my '07 450er. I cant seem to keep my front end down when launching the quad.

Keep your weight as far forward as you can. Don't just dump the clutch, feather it out. Suspension will go along way in keeping the front end down as well.

The 06/07 bikes come with 13t. What you are probably hearing is pertaining to the 04/05 bikes, which come with a 14t. If you gear your bike down to a 12t, it will make it even harder to keep the front end down.

Well i was told at the Joe Byrd school that you set the throttle at 8-9000 rpm (half throttle) and when the gate drops get over the gate then PIN IT. If your starting to wheelie, feather the clutch. Also when its time to shift dont let off the gas, but use the clutch, despite what others say always use the clutch(quote from Joe). Doin that tecnieque (sp?) almost got me the holeshot on a stock quad against built quads in my 1st race

dang 1/2 throttle is 8-9000 RPM? 9100RPM on my 400ex is like red lining it haha

I actually start back farther from the gate, then when it's time to go I launch a second before everybody else. So when I pass the gate I have that momentum already going to get the holeshot.

nuts on the tank, 2nd gear, rev it to the limiter and clutch the heck out of it
try to get the tires to spin and slide back on the seat until the front gets light, then hit 3rd (if it bogs clutch it again)

Rolling the gate at a track that u do not have to "drop" into the gate is not a disadvantage-- seen many ppl do this- u are already in slight motion- with the wheels slightly moving u already have an advantage on everyone setting still- u arent as apt to wheelie or spin as everyone else.

however-- it is a disadvantage when the gatekeeper catches on and doesnt drop the gate until u come clear up to it-- and then have to go-- this parts f++kin hilarious to me-- watched that happen to!!!!

my friend always does rolling starts at local races and gets holeshot everytime. if he doesnt do a rolling start (he couldnt at wpsa, not allowed) he never gets holeshot. so i guess its an advantage for some people..

DO THE ROLL UP TRICK FROM LIKE 5 FEET AWAY SO THAT WAY WHEN U HIT THE GATE BEFORE IT DROPS U JUST FLIPP OVER MY BARS. THE GATE MAN JUST STOOD THERE AND LAUGHED IT WAS PRETTY FUNNY TO WATCH. NO SERIOUSLY IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA TO DO TRUST ME. UNLESS YOU LIKE PAIN...AND HUMILITY
2ND GEAR ABOUT HALF THROTTLE NUTS ON THE TANK AND AS SOON AS YOU START MOVING SLIDE TOWARDS THE REAR OF THE SEAT.

what ever you do dont bounce the rev limiter. floating valves never help. plus it makes you sound like a complete retard.
