actually the 350x has better forks than the 250r.... If my memory serves me correctly, I believe that was a set up from way back in the day to swap the 350x forks and headlights to a R

well when i measured the forks the 250r forks are longer and have a biger diamiter. i figured that this would allow them to hold more fluid. making them a better set up. im not saying that your wrong because i have no idea that was just my thinking.

do you know about the rear end??

thanks alot

no, 85/86 250r forks are better than 350x forks. The setup that racers used was 83/84 250r fork guts in 350x forks. Alot of people that ran the 200cc class did this, as 350x tripples fit perfectly on 83-87 200x's and it was a far better setup than stock 200x. They also did this to get better brakes and a leading axle. On my 200x, I have 350x tripples and 83/84 250r front end, it is far far far better than the 200x forks.

i was hoping you would chip in and set us all straight ;) I've had alot of custom setups since '85. Hell, these days I'm doing good to just remember which crank and which piston my R has :D

I still dont know how you MX 3 wheelers. everywhere I go they wont even let me use the 350x as a pit bike, nevermind actually out on the track.....

so how does the 83/84 250r internals to 350x tubes work? got a link to 'splain it to me?

the 350x and 83/84 250r forks are the same daimeter and legnth, the top tubes may be the same part number also. The difference is in the bottom tubes, leading axle vs trailing, brake, and internals. Everything swaps between them. The 83/84 250r has stiffer suspension, 1" more travel and more compression. The 350x is softer, less travel and less compression, its basically more of a trail and play type of suspension, while the 83/84 250r is all about hardcore racing. Also the 83/84 250r had a following most notibly a Terry fork kit, actually all 250r's had these kits available. Basically the valving tubes were replaced with a slower compression and rebound tube(less and smaller holes in the rod). I never did this myself, from what I'm told, take out all the parts from 83/84 250r, leaving the fork tubes empty, do that to 350x forks and re-assemble all the 83/84 250r parts in the 350x tubes. I just used the 83/84 250r front end, I didn't want a leading axle, I wanted a faster turning trike and better suspension. The rake of the 350x tripples and trailing axle of the 83/84 did this. I dont like the front wheel of my trikes to be firmly planted, I heavlily counter steer in turns and a planted front wheel just fights this. I also have my tripples cut for the maximuim turning (the forks just barely hit the gas tank) and my atc250r has a short track kit, which basicaly does the same thing. It has a different bottom tripple, shrouds, gas tank, radiator hoses, radiator brackets, and radiator re-location brackets. Basically the gas tanks is 1/2 as big, slimmer and more of the wieght is down low, shrouds are bigger to catch more air, and the radiators are moved back and the top is leaned back, in order for more turning.

I go to tracks that don't allow trikes and they let me there. At one park(don't allow trikes), the track manager stopped me and asked me "what 4 wheeled POS is in your truck?", "Get your trike then come back here". Another(that allows trikes), I was passing 3/4 of the quads, on my 200x none the less. Another I was passing almost 1/2 of the quads. I hopefully will be going to a place this weekend that doesn't offically allow trikes, but does to people that can prove they know how to ride them good, my quad will be coming with me too. Word travels fast, I go to places to ride my quad and 10 people ask me where my trikes are!!!!!!!

to answer the first post: what year 250r forks do you have? and swinger. If its 85/86, neither will work, nor will the swingers on all year 250r's. Let me know exactly what you have.

everything is no, generally 85/86 250r parts won't swap with anything else. SOME air-cooled 250r parts will swap with 83-87 and 85/86 350x.
