ok guys what i have is a complete motor off of an 88-89 250r. All i can tell you about the motor is that it ran hard when i pulled it off the bike i bought. I was told by the guy that i bought it from that it had been fully ported(which i believe to be true from the power) and i believe he said it had a yz piston in it. only bad thing is that the cases have been welded in the back near the sprocket but it had no leaks when i was running it for a few days.

the motor comes in running condition with everything you need from carburator to exhaust flange. i am not sure what is in the cases, could have hinson clutch basked, counterbalancer, or not, again i never looked into it. i do know that it shifted fine and ran excellent before i took it off for my 330 motor.

i am looking to get at least $600 plus shipping. if i have no offers by friday i will be putting it on ebay, but i figured i would let you guys have a shot at it first. you can pm me or email me at ToXicPuKeR@aol.com for quicker responses. i am sure you guys are gonna want pics so i will try to get them for you tomorrow, thanks.

sorry i want to sell the whole thing. and what are the differences between the 88-89 years now that you mention it i do know that the cdi boxes are different so i am assuming maybe the stator also, but what else besides that besides the pistons and porting?? i know the cases are different between the 86-87 and 88-89 years and thats how i know its not an 86-87 motor.

the difference in motors is 85/86 and 87/89 , cosmetically is the gap in the front of it but internally the 89 has the better clutch set up , and there is other differences in the 85/86 and the 87/89 but Im afraid I cant give ya all the answers goodluck with your sale though ,I think your gonna need it

pimpt250r - Just a thaught on the clutch setup difference. I would think that 99% of all 88' R motors out there have had the clutch update kit installed by now so I would not think that would be an issue.

Just my 2 cents

i agree, i have an 86 motor that got the update kit almost 9 years ago so im not too concerned about that especially since whoever had it before me was obviously into upgrades and performance.
