My buddy has an 01 400ex.... has a plus 1 1/2 swinger on it with longtravel elka link and shock... He's now moving on to an 05 450r.... question is can we take off the rear shock and swing arm bolt and switch the two of them so the swing arm that was on the 400ex is on the 450r and visa versa????

pretty sure it won't work, but even if it does the 400ex and 450r use totally different rear suspension. So if you put it on the geometry will be all messed up

i am currently using a 450r swingarm on my 400ex the only thign i found was you have to use the 400 spacers and where the bearing carrier slides into the swingarm on the R it isn't as wide as the ex so you can use a 400ex carrier in an R swingarm but not the other way around. i know the 400 swingarm will bolt up to the R but seeing as how you'll need the 400 carrier your chain line could be all screwed up

Thanks guys, i've been told before that people use the 450r swinger on the 400ex as a cheap way to get an extended swingarm as the 450r swinger is longer....... I was hoping that we could swap the swinger and shock since he already has the LT Elka on the EX and an extended axle, would just save a TON of money...

Anyone else have any input??

04 and 05 swingers are the same length. I wanted stock length and have an 05 450 swinger on my 400. 06 and up are around an inch longer.

Swing arm should, linkage and shock probably wont. I know the shock wont, as it is too long, but the linkage may, but I doubt it.
