99 TRX300 Neutral Light

My neutral light has decided to only work part of the time.
It will not start of course when the light does not come on unless we push start it. Then after you ride for a few minutes the light will come on and start like normal. But it might be on when you shut it down and later turn it on and no light again. If it is a bad switch how hard is it to get to and change???

300EX OR 300 Utility?

If it's the 300ex. You most likley simply need to clean the connector for the neutral indicator switch. It is underneath the small sheet metal cover next to the rear break pedal. It will be a ruber covered plug. You can pull it off and clean it with some contact cleaner.

Common issue as that spot see's a lot of water and mud.

If it's the 300 UTE I'm not sure. It may be similar though.
