Ok, im building a 440 stroker and have narrowed it down to two cams. HC stage 2 or 3. Im racing MX. I know the stage 3 is designed for a stroker but wouldnt the stage 2 make more low end since the duration is shorter? If you have another suggestion let me know and explain why. Thanks.

Has anyone here run the Stage 3 Hotcams on a 440ex? I've searched, but I didn't come up with anything. I've got a Wiseco 12.5:1 with K&N and an LRD exhaust. I'm going to pick up a cam for it, and I'm leaning toward a Stage 3. Hotcams website says that the Stage 3 was designed specifically for the Hot Rods stroker kit and to run it on anything else I would have to check the piston clearance. I don't want to order this and then find out it won't work. Is anyone using one?

i'd go with stg. 3. the only thing is.... with stg. 2 you can use stock springs and rockers. but since your building a stroker....... stg. 3.

According to Hotcams website, you can use stock valve springs and rockers with the Stage 3 kit. And my bike has a 440 big bore kit.

man my friend had the 440 stroker and that thing was so fast!!! power in every gear and pulled just as hard as the gear before it. He was running a stage 2 I think.

Simple, get the stage 3. If you don't, you won't make as much power. If the cam was designed for a stroker & the stage 2 wasn't, durr........it's the logical choice.

I'm running the stg 3 in my stroker, combined with a 450R carb and Yoshi full exhaust, K&N w/o lid and P&P head.

The stg 3 has decent low end, with a mid range to top end surge that will make you smile. It hauls ***.

For MX, go with the 3. If you were racing cross country, I'd recommend the stg 2.

I wonder what would be best all around? I do everything from trail riding to drag racing to the sand dunes at Little Sahara. I guess I could always re-gear it if I got the power band too high. My bike isn't a stroker. It's a 440 big bore.
