I am dieing to put in a different motor in my 400ex thats faster. I dont no what motor to consider.....cr500,cr250,600,xr650.
I am not sure about vibration tho....i mean im sure that any motor that i put in will vibrate my teeth out but which motor do you guyz think is best. I liked the idea of the cr500 becuz i can get a old year that will cost not much at all but they have no counter balancers and i dont want my bike to vibrate apart...or will it?? Any suggestions or opinons and pics will help me out alot...thanx

just mod your existing engine, make it a 406 416 425 or even a 440. get a different cam as well.

Id go with a TRX 250R or a newer CR 250 motor. We are in development with a 400EX frame with a TRX 250R motor. It seemed a bit easier to do that than CR 250 but a CR is a little bit quicker motor.Id go with the CR but you may have a problem with a kick starter,a flip seat may have to be made.

The CR would also virbrate your teeth out!!! Any CR would since theres no counterbalancer. I'd go with an R motor or an CRF motor, they have both been done before and theyre quite easy to put in.

CR motor dont Vibrabrate that bad if you do it right we have enginered antivibe engine mounts that are chromoly reinforced

you should go for the big bore 4 stroke. they won't vibrate as bad and i have seen some ex's with that done to em so there are definately people who can help you if you run into a problem.

I have learned one thing, by the time i would have my 400ex as fast as i want it, i would have to spend over 3k. so im just gonna sell it and get something faster

the xr650 is counterbalanced but you will need to modify your frame to fit
