just bought a 86 250r. .20 over bore, stock carb, fmf fatty gold pipe and fmf silencer, 14t front, 36t rear sprocket, 23inch tires in the front, 22inch in the back. The bike has no bottom end at all. It hits really hard in mid range, but not bottom end. I pulled the carb apart and it has a 50 pilot and a "plastic" 152 main jet. Are these the stock jets? I have never seen a plastic jet before. I am putting a 13t front sprocket, 20 inch rear tires, 21 fronts....but my question is will this help with bottom end and what should my jetting be with my stock 34mm carb? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Main reason your bike has no lowend is the gearing. 14 36 is what I run on my MX bike with light 18x9.5x8 turf tamers and a built to the hilt 265 motor. Try 13 38-39 gearing, you will feel a big difference. Your main jet should be brass, never heard of a plastic jet before.

You need to get rid of those 22" tires. What reeds do you got.they could be worn out

i am getting rid of the tires this week and going down to 20s. I have worked on bikes for along time and have never seen a plastic jet before. I think the reeds are fine because it hits like a 20lb turbo in mid rpms. I am just trying to move some of that power down into the lower range. I will try the gearing that was suggested as well. I am going to get rid of that plastic just, but should i go up or down with the jetting at all or stay at a 152?
