i have a 440 kit w/o a cam. it has 11.5/1 compression should i run half race fuel half pump gas? how much would it increase power?

Does it ping on pump gas? I would think that with that compression, you would need higher octane fuel, but if it doesn't ping, you should be okay.

ping how ive never heard a ping. is it loud or real quiet

It can be quiet or loud, depending on how bad it is. It sounds kind of like a metal to metal tapping sound.

Going to a higher compression may cause a need for a higher octane. On this forum, alot of riders are suggesting going to a 50/50 mix at a 10.8 : 1 compression or higher. I could be wrong, but I believe the higher the compression, the hotter the engine can get. Running race gas with lead in it is to help cool the engine. Plus race gas is designed to meet certain comression ratios.

In short... It is recommended to run at least 50/50 with your 11.5 to 1 compression.

Where do you get your race gas at and what does it run in price?

i can get it from my local quad shop. it runs about $4 a gallon in 5gal drums

What is the octain rating on it?

I run Vp C-12, which is 108 octae runs $5.75 a gallon

I would reccomend at least a 50/50 mix! But if it was me i would run full race gas,, VP Red 105 or something similar!!

the fuel that i can get is trick i think its 108 not for sure

just go to a local small airport for small planes and fill it up on av gas, it should be about $2 a gallon and it is 100+ octane, that's all you need up untill you pas a 12:1 compression, you'll be just fine on av gas

i would say full race gas and anything pass 13 i would only use alky only
