Monica...a huge thanks to you and Johnny for all you have done to help people get the race information. It is much appreciated and I personally thank you!!!

I do know next year we may not have to do race updates as there should be systems in place to have live feed from trackside.I see this as a huge plus for the fans at home!

I also missed being at this race very much. It has been a long season but well worth it!(well, except for the broken elbow...lol) I am putting together a year in review on the series that hopefully will be completed and done between thanksgiving and christmas so keep an eye out for it

Borich got stuck on a bad hillclimb is why he dropped back

BJ Ballance snapped a swing arm

Natalie suffered worst arm pump he has ever had

Smiley lost his seat on last lap but still went on for a podium finish!

I drew that exact conclusion myself! I suppose that Polaris pimped him to make a GNCC appearance to boost their Pro showing? He needs to show up for a few more I guess and get used to the stiff competition.

On a side note, maybe I should head out west to race? :blah:

Check the line up in Jan. for round 1.

Jeff, are ya comin out any time in 2008?
We would love to see a few of the East Coasters venture out,at least I speak for myself and family :)
I love hearing how each end hits a venue and talks about there experience in a dif. form of racing .Both are different in more ways than one and I feel its exciting to read about.
It only adds to our sport IMO as long as its looked at in that perspective . I would just hate to see abit of a "rival" kind of thing over it all ,which I could see happening.
Im still glad to see Eichner went out and done this .Each style of racing is much different .I wish we was closer to see more of it! :)

ballance comes to one of the grand prix's or WORCS on the west coast and does well. i think he has been to 3 and i know he has won 1, i think he has won 2. johnny g and traci cecco came with him once and both did well until they had issues that put them out.

I have seen Eichner in action this year at several WORCS races, and he is much faster than his finish this weekend. He started dead last because he stalled it on the line, and he got a flat tire and didn't have the Outlaw suspension working right for him because he was riding a machine he never raced before.

Sure, Sure, if every thing was perfect, I still don't expect to see him challenge for a top position at the Ironman of all races because he hasn't raced a GNCC in 8 years, and there aren't many trees in California to dodge or at man WORCS races because they are pretty wide open besides the Washington races.

I think the opening round of the series in Florida would be the best choice for Eichner to make another return to GNCC racing because I would expect him to fair much better than Ironman because he can fly in the sand as I witnessed that just one week ago in California.

For a man 43 Years old, he impresses me everytime I watch him race, and I really hope he comes and runs another round next year because it fun having riders like Natalie, Eichner, and other Pro racers try out GNCC racing.

Also, I did an interview with Eichner about his GNCC Experience, which will be released in the very near future...

Congrats to Bill Ballance & all the 2007 GNCC Champions as many Championships were determined at the final round of the series.

Photo Galleries will be uploaded by Monday Night at the latest.

Looking forward to reading that interview with Eichner...be interesting to hear his thoughts on the GNCC.

I too have seen Eichner race as I used to race the WORCS series (moved from WA to GA last Jan) and yup, the man is definitely fast. And heck, after seeing a picture of him washing our friends 11 year old daughters quad at one of the races (and then the follow up photo of him signing that photo) he gets a big thumbs up in my book!

I'm just happy to see riders mixing it up and letting their fans see them at different venues. I hope to see him again next season!

Anyone familiar with Eichner would know right away that with a finish that far back, he obviously had issues......he's much faster than that, and a great rider in any condition......glad to see he came out and raced back East!! I'm sure he enjoyed it, despite his bad luck! ;)

Yes, washing Allie's bike at Havasu, that was classic. He got a pretty good kick out of Allie having him sign that picture the very next day.

this year at the beach race dustin nelson ran it and got a 2nd place finish out of it...if anybody big is going to do a WORCS race...the pismo beach race is definitly one that should be of high intrest for them....or if a GNCC guy wants to come and race a similar track...a Washington race would be about as close as you can come to GNCC out west...

The rule doesn't say that they have to make the same frame modifications to the next production year.

Here is the rule from the GNCC rule book. It is in the Pro only Rules.

MACHINE ELIGIBILITY AND CLASSIFICATION:

1. XC1 Pro (Bikes): (0-Opencc).
2. XC2 Lites (Bikes): (0-125cc 2-Strokes; 0- 250cc 4-Strokes).
3. XC1 & XC2 (ATV): (0-525cc). Fuel tanks are limited to a 4-gallon maximum capacity. OEM motor and matching frame combination model required. Engine modifications, frame reinforcements, and f rame modifications creating longer rear-wheel travel or altering front A-arm and shock pivot point locations, are permitted.

They didn't add the wording about altering a arms pivot points to the production definition at the beginning.

Doug Eichner is a real nice guy, and a very fast, smart rider, no matter what coast he is on, IMHO.

Now, I am not trying to champion Doug, you understand, because Lord knows he has rubbed me the wrong way once or twice (not too bad you understand, but when your baby is racing with anyone, eventually you have the 'what the hey' feeling even though you know someone else's mom is saying the same about your kid, doesn't mean we don't like them, just that they are racing, duh, sometimes they, umm, have contact...) I have nothing but respect for ALL the riders that take on the challenge of ATV Racing, be it XC, MX, TT or any other type.

Not to say much about much, but at the Great Outdoor Games, Doug was there along with a ton of other very, very fast boys from the east, west, north and south. They rode a flat track start, woods section, moto-x section, sand and air section, to try to encompass all types of ATV racing.

All of it was challenged because of a hurricane that came through and threatened us (just a lot of wind and water), so the true nature of the intended track was not as planned.

From what I could see, up close and personal, was that the MX guys had a narrow edge on the XC guys on that particular course.

I know in the past that some of the top dogs in XC have raced MX, Bill Ballance for instance usually races at Lorettas (or did for a few years anyway). I know he was pretty competitive, but it was not his 'comfort zone'. Also I know that some of the MX guys have gave it a go on the XC tracks and also have had respectable finishes, but not podium material.

So I guess it is a combo of luck, talent, $, and which way the wind is blowing on any given day.

From my point of view, all these guys that are willing to put it on the line for a start, especially in that pro-class, are all phenomonal riders.

It's too bad television cannot adequatly convey the feeling of 20 quads heading into the first corner in 3rd gear pinned. The feel of the earth moving when a 350 lb + quad flat landing a jump you are standing by. Or that a roost really feels like you got nailed with little bitty shotgun pellets. Or the feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when they tangle with each other. Or the overwhelming happiness at the end of a race when your rider comes in all dirty and sweaty with bugs in his teeth and dirt up his nose, but smiling all the same. TV cannot translate that and that's is why we all keep on coming, no matter if they are a pro XC guy or a youth MX beginner. It's why we are here.

I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Dana Creech at the Ironman just before the UTV race. He seemed like a pretty cool guy and very approachable. I had asked him about the front LTR shocks that he's running on his RZR.

I was not talking bad on bill ballance. I my self ride a yfz 450 since they came out. I now have an 07 with his graphics and pipe i was just wondering since they made no changes at all to the frame for the 08 yfz's. Thats all not being an (***) about it at all

I didn't see anyone really being rude to another rider, simply saying what they think. Isn't that what people are supposed to do in a forum?

And the yfz450 is a great machine. Have a few in the garage, and enough spare parts to build another 10 or so....

Yes I do remember. That's why I said that it appeared that the MX guys had a bit of an edge on the way that the track was intended. Although in the grand scheme of things, when the race finally went, between hurricane warnings :), it really was more of a GNCC track, very muddy, very deep, and very much one line, with dead quads littered all over the place. It was a survival type situation!

The XC Guys that qualified on the drier track, did quite well in the super nasty conditions.

Had it not been so muddy I still think Bill would have been up there. His lap times were not as fast in the qualifiers as some of the MX guys, but he was very consistent. And racing is definitely different than qualifier lap times!

What does Andy #12 put on his quad. That thing doesn't look like it got much mud on it like ours did and what ever it is, I want some of it.....mommab
